    Your PC ATM

My new companion: PowerEdge T300 with quadcore Xeon @2.83Ghz and 6GB DDR2-800 ECC... Not too shabby, but a bit on the noisy side.

    Your PC ATM

Primin'... Looks like the Windows Task Manager is drunk. AI suite says i'm running 4,515Ghz and all cores are at 100%. So does CPU-Z. Eh, whatever. It's 4,5 and it's stable. Was pretty close to 4,6 but the temps went over 75 and i decided to take it back a step. More corsair AF120/140 coming in...

This has got to be the worst excuse for a hot-swap bay ever. It's direct passthrough (so no hotswap unless your motherboard itself allows that) AND disconnects and reconnects at complete random. It just killed one of my 160gbs with that. Fml.

    Control $random output for motd?

Worked a treat. How it decides according to the number of lines is beyond me, but now anyone with permission can dump quotes to motd-msg and they will display randomly. Thanks ^^

    Control $random output for motd?

It looks like this so far. Pretty happy except for the quotes bit :p

    Control $random output for motd?

.. .or i don't need sleep and actually putting the word count in makes it print the same with 10 instead of wc.

    Control $random output for motd?

    ...nevermind. i need sleep.
  14. ypoora1

    Control $random output for motd?

    It prints "wc -l /etc/motd-msg | cut -f 1 -d ' '". is there something wrong with my MOTD? I have #!/bin/bash echo -e "text `command` " sorting, using /usr/local/bin/dynmotd.

    Control $random output for motd?

This does not work, i get "sed: -e expression #1, char 2: unknown command: `('". I guess i could always resort to writing a new quote in myself every day.

    Control $random output for motd?

How do i go about integrating this onto my sed command? sorry, total noob at this.

    Control $random output for motd?

So i'm making my MOTD, all fancy with ASCII art and colors and such. Now in one section, i want to print a quote that's randomly picked from a file and then printed in on every MOTD print. I'm already using a dynamic MOTD to show server info and uptime. Now the problem is i'm using "sed -n...

    Your PC ATM

So for a whopping 30 euros worth of secondhand parts and some CPU and RAM of my own, i have re-populated the Antec One. Probably gonna use this as a server of some kind. FX-6200 with 8GB RAM and an 8600GT.

    Clear terminal for ssh?

Yeah i meant users SSH-ing in. I have Mint because i also use it as a desktop regularly. Did that, and it seems to work. How does one add colored text to issue.net and motd? I tried the ANSI thing, but in all my terminal emulators it either shows the actual code on screen or makes garbled junk...

    Clear terminal for ssh?

Is there any way co clear the ssh-ing user´s terminal when ¨issue(.net)¨ shows up? Iḿ trying to make my little usage disclaimer a bit more... Noticable. Running linux Mint 17 on a desktop/server tower. Oh, and where is the ¨motd¨ in Mint stored anyway?

    Plymouth + Nvidia = help?

I got it fixed by just purging all it´s files. Installed GRUB customizer to put Windows at the top of the GRUB2 list, and for whatever reason THAT then fixed the nVidia driver. So i´ll leave my brain to go http://www.mediafire.com/view/1ccw6j8kag872fd/OKY.mp3 and never touch that again.

    Plymouth + Nvidia = help?

The ones it came with performed extremely poorly and were bugged here and there. I installed this from the driver manager and apart from what I just described it's doing perfect. :(

    Plymouth + Nvidia = help?

Now before i say anything else: yes, i DID install the NVidia driver properly and yes, the computer is otherwise perfectly usable. So now on to my issue(more of an annoyance but eh) Before i installed the latest Nvidia driver(343.22), the CLI(ctrl+f1-f6) had a nice high resolution and on boot...
