I bought a Sony Mini-Disc player instead of an I-pod.

But

This news doesn't surprise me with all the gadgets out for I-pod.

The iPod is the current generations "walkman". I remember when sony walkman was the gadget to have. Now iPod's and iPhone's are the current rage. I must say, I've been tempted to buy one on many occasions, just the initial purchase cost is what puts me off, can't justify $450AU in getting a 60GB iPod.

These days, even Sony is trying to cash in on the iPod craze, buy making an iPod cradle.

I had bad experience with creative (thier small one), thing droped about a foot at most onto the bus seat and broke first days I had it. I almost gave thier bigger 5gb model a try, but opted for the ipod after that experence. Ipods are tuff, just a little software issues at times nothing major, just have to reset it.

Zalman you should look into the 30gig one its all you need :) unless you want to have LOTS n LOTS! of discographys.
There dropping in price a bit here in Canada, make sure to get a good silicone case if you do by one, dont use that plastic sticker protective SHIT!

Yeah, i've been thinking about it. A friend of mine just bought a 60GB video iPod, and has it running in his BMW, quite a nice setup, mutes automatically when he has a call on his cellphone.

Yes, I think I've got Goo goo dolls somewhere in there. I've got everything from classical music, to the very latest trance and everything else in between.

Yeah thier higher end ones dont seem bad at all.

I was just displeased with the Muvo? I had bought for over $200 that broke so easily. turned me away from buying another creative mp3 if they can make such a POS like the one I had and charge a premium. (it was more expensive than others at the time).

Well, IMO, the iPod is the best thing that apple has ever produced.

iPod = fail.

I've had one (3rd gen 15gb) and it sucked pretty badly... iTunes sucked, the battery life sucked, and I hated how it kept locking up on me. I'll NEVER buy another iPod in my life as long as much better companies like iAudio (Cowon) and iRiver are around.

Keep in mind that "iPod" wasn't the first product to use the "i". I think it was iRiver that used it first, but I'm sure that there were a couple of companies before Apple that used it.

My iPod nano (first gen) has been fine for over a year now. I got it for Christmas in 2005 and I've had almost no problems with the player itself. It's crashed twice at the most, battery life is ok, not great, it looks nice and has been dropped about and knocked all over, but the screen is still fine (admittedly that has a screenguard), it works perfectly and the scratch marks on the metal don't bother me all all. Plus it's small and simple.

The problem I have is with iTunes - the software has some nice features, but syncing your iPod can be chaos when they release updates sometimes. I think on two occasions updates have meant that iTunes no longer detects my iPod despite it being shown in Windows, and the new version can be slow to load.

I got the iaudio x5 (that cowan brand anticlutch cites) back when it came out, and it still works just fine around two years later. My biggest pet peeve, and reason for not buying an ipod, was having to convert all my music and sync with itunes. Not only that, cowon offers a much larger feature set, which I guess most people don't want/need anyway, but was a huge selling point for me.

Heh, another Cowon user :D

I love my X5 and T2 because they both boast great battery life and have the option to customize your own equalizer. I really hope that Cowon will update their product line up though... all of their new products seem to be either necklace-type mp3 players or PMP players :|
