I found a pic with the config. I think it's the exact match.

That may even be the exact same fan(minus the xlr8 sticker I would imagine.). The only thing I'm confused on is where the LED is located. I can't find them on the real fan when it was in front of me. I can see it on in my case, but i couldn't locate it. And I saw nothing to that looked like an LED on the fan or shroud or in that area.... I obviously missed it but boy is it well hidden.

Wait, I'm starting to assume it's just really bright and hidden in the actual fan casing. As in within the part that is spinning.

NOO ENGRISHHHH!! NO ENGRISSHSH.... 8\

I get this feeling these aren't available for sale outside of asia for some reason. I think that is japanese.(nvm, chinese) Can google translate a picture between languages?

I wonder if the fan curvature and things are the same. I'm assuming these are hard to find. I probably just need to get the lube ready. 8(

Google Translate:
GALAXY GTX660 Hall of Fame gtx770 680 graphics card fan shadow gtx760 GK80 Pangu version

Brand new original GALAXY graphics card fan, suitable for different brands of the same size graphics card, four-wire temperature control dual fan, generally not recommended for a single purchase. The single fan short-line socket is very small, much smaller than the port on the graphics card.

Look at the model of the old fan before the shoot, this fan is fixed by three screw holes, there are two models PLD09210S12HH and T129215SU, the thickness of the front model is 1 cm, the thickness of the model is 1.5 cm.

The graphics card fan can not just look at the model, the same size can be used, do not understand the old fan can be used to determine the map.

1. Model: PLD09210S12HH

Fan diameter 8.5 cm thickness 1 cm

Voltage: 12V

Current: 0.4A

2. Model: T129215SU

Fan diameter 8.5 cm thickness 1.5 cm

Voltage: 12V

Current: 0.5A

The screw holes of the three fixed fans are irregularly shaped, and the adjacent distance is 4.9*4.6*1.7 cm.

Reference model: GALAXY GeForce GTX 970 Black / 950 Ashes / GTX 970 European / GTX 760 Black General / GTX 770 Black / GTX 660 Black / GTX660Ti Four Star Black / GTX670 Four Star Black / GeForce GTX660 Hall of Fame equivalent size graphics card replacement fan

Below is the physical picture of the 9210 fan

Electric motor oil(google it). But I've also used various other lightweight oils with success(3-In-One, sewing machine, gun, honing, 5w-30, etc.).

This stuff here is my goto(used to be called Super Oil).

I'm not going to ask what, "everything," includes. 8)

I'll look to see if I can get any of that. I think my only choice at this juncture is to re grease it. Thank god it is one giant heat sink and not something weirder.

The LEDs are on the motor PCB under the hub of the fan.

Those appear to be the same holes. The entire design of the plastic is identical as far as I can tell. Yea, I was not sure on the fan size. I didn't even think about it. I couldn't even find information on what the fan size was for this card.

Also, PNY magically has a security flaw and cant' be accessed as of me looking this up and trying to contact them on their website. So, I have no way to contact them to try to even begin to figure this out. Am I the only one getting the message about a secruity flaw and firefox not letting them access the site? The site was working when I first went on it. But it has since had this problem since attempting to go back to it.

Is there any chance they sell their exact fans to people for replacement. I would rather buy from them if needed than some website I don't know anything about.

BTW, does anyone know if there is a way into this type of fan to apply grease/oil? I've seen videos on puncturing holes with a needle heated up to melt the plastic, but if possible I'd like to avoid that. And I"m not sure which end to do it to regardless. I'm assuming it's on the bottom of the fan with the sticker with the model number and not the top with the xlr8 sticker, but I'm not certain.

I'm looking into getting some sewing machine oil. Assuming I can't get a hold of pny to actually ask them anything.

I'm going to assume there are no weird fan designs on gpus that avoid this issue with some odd side mounted radial axis connectors with the bearing/shaft access on top? 8)
(Which I'm assuming without some decent size or weird measures would be very prone to rattling.) Or do they make any where the magnetic parts are inside the actual fan casing and the shaft is in the bottom non moving portion?! I'm guessing that would be more likely to wear out as the moving part would potentially have more weight and bigger effect on bad movements on the bearing and shaft. Although, with light enough materials... NVM, the difficulty would be delivery of electricity. Although if it's been done enough that could be resolved. That could be cool. Either electrically conductive grease/oil or some other form of contact that hopefully doesn't wear out alot. Could be resolved by a small non moving part that clips into the base I guess and delivers it wirelessly.

Never had a fan on a videocard die actually, my guess is your fan was defective from the start. I'd just replace the whole thing with that eBay one. Its not a big deal I have bought chinese fans many times, just takes about two weeks to a month to arrive usually. Sometimes much faster sometimes slower. eBay and paypal are pretty good about refunding if you do not receive your item. In the meantime, while you have the shroud off just zip tie a 120mm case fan onto the heatsink.

Didn't read the whole thread.

With that disclaimer out of the way, have you tried swapping the fans (1st in place of 2nd and vice-versa) so that you rule out issues with the card's fan controller and not the fan itself?

I had a similar issue myself but, instead of the fan failing, i had a clicking noise which originated from a bad installation of the card (my bad: installed it way too close to the sound card). @ the time there was no issue but, a bit more then one year later, it started having this clicking noise and, after asking here @ TPU, i opted to purchase new fans. Couldn't find them @ Ebay for a moderate price so i contacted the manufacturer (Sapphire) and bought a couple from them directly. Arrived yesterday: already installed.

Peel the sticker off the back. Sometimes there's a rubber or plastic plug in the center that you can pop out to refill the lube. If there isn't, then you'll need to make a small hole in the center of the plastic housing large enough to drip some oil into. If you've made the hole correctly you should be able to see the shiny tip of the fan shaft. Put a drop of oil in the hole and spin the fan by hand to help it penetrate into the bearing(s). Repeat as necessary. 2 or 3 drops should be all it needs. After which you should notice the fan spinning more freely, and/or making less noise, when spun by hand. If so, problem solved. If not, then the bearing(s) might be too far gone, and the fan will need to be replaced. If it doesn't have a plug to put back in the hole, just cover it up with the sticker(or some tape, or whatever). It doesn't really matter if some of the oil leaks out during use. It's not going to hurt anything. Due to the orientation of the fans on a GPU, it's not very likely to leak very much(if at all) during use.

I tried making a whole in the back but there is stuff blocking it. You can only poor a little in the side of the fan and spin it and clean up the excess. I accdidentally cracked some of the lower frame(non important frame) and used some gorilla glue gel to put it back together. About as good as new. The fan is quite for now. Hopefully it will stay that way but it still makes a little noise. I may need to oil it a few times or wait for the pny website to come back online and try to buy some new fans from them.

Actually, the fan is already trying to make noise again at 100% fan speed. I'll to see how it goes. I'll try to buy new fans from them when/if possible. Hopefully their website becomes available at some point again. (Edit: The fan noise is acutally a really annoying constant drone. I'll have to grease it again. It's driving me insane. It is better than before though.)

And, sadly, you can't reverse the fans. The pin going to the board is on one side and too short to reach from the other side. The two fans are daisy chained and one is a 3 pinner and the lead to the main board is 4 pinner and shorter. It's only configurable one way.

Edit: i greased it again with some singer machine oil. It's now only making a small weird intermitent noise(I'll grease it again later to see if it's fine.). But I noticed something odd. The plastic in the fans are retaining alot of heat. The cooler was completely cool but they were very hot...

I think something worse is wrong. I'm smelling a subtle burnt smell. I was smelling this before I even applied wd40 once.(Thought it was originally from somewhere else.) I think those fans were bad to start. Unfortunately I more than likely have no warranty and never did. Because the best buy website said I had a 3 year manufacturers warranty and I did not know I had to register. And pny's website has been down for ages and I have no way to try to get help. And I haven't as long as this problem as been around.

The smell has gone down. I think it was temporary. I get the feeling the website going down is not coincidental. It's amazing how it stays down once I wrote this thread. It literally timed up with it.

The noise has gone away also at 100% fan speed. I don't think it's at 100% fan speed. But it is quite. I'll have to bench mark it and see. Hopefully the other problems are temprary or the result of grease being on the inside of the fan for the moment.

Now the temperatures are getting even worse. It's getting up to 78 degrees and I haven't run it long on a benchmark. It used to not even get to 75c with default auto fan curve logic. Never above 55 with manual 100% fan speed. And it's only at 1200rpm now at full speed when manually put there. Their website has been magically down since the moment I made this thread!

Tried it on google chrome also. Am I the only one not able to get on their website or is this for everyone. This is bizarre and very fishy timing. I could access their website until the moment I made this thread. Then all of a sudden it's not working. Can anyone confirm it's not accessible?

Either way, hopefully the heat is just from the oil being on the coils or something. I'll let it run and see how it goes... Edit: The fans, although manually set to 100% in the nvidia settings, are only at less than 1000rpm and randomly changing. I think I need to buy new fans. They aren't cooling much. And sadly they aren't even reversible.

The sounds are getting worse potentially(keep fluctuating) and I can't a hold of the company to ask for help or ask to buy anything. What the heck do they expect anyone to do? Can anyone else access their website. Every browser I have tried says they have a security flaw and their website can't be accessed?!

I also can't figure out where to even ask a simple question on best buys website.

Has the pny website been hacked or anything?

I still hadn't figured out where on the pny website to contact them yet when I could briefly access it when I started the thread.

Works for me, chrome, I typed in pny.com and hit enter. It is too bad you didn't activate the warranty, the XLR8 warranty is lifetime.

You could buy an Arctic cooler instead, they probably work better though theres a hassle to the installation. Based on your experiences so far, the hassle is probably not something you want to deal with. That said, the Arctic Mono Plus is pretty good.

It's not working for me and I never saw anything in regards to a warranty anywhere about this product besides best buy saying a 3 year manufacturer warranty. Which I can't access help to use. And I've been unable to do since trying to resolve this as it stopped being accessible while trying to access their website.

Your description of the fan's wiring sounds very similar to the eBay one I posted, why don't you just order that one. If it ends up bad you can file an eBay or Paypal claim and get your money back. He even has measurements of the hole spacing which you can check in the photos. 49x46x17mm.

I don't use ebay or paypal and don't know how to. I also don't trust either of them and I'm not risking my information. That is no feasible for me.

Alright another approach is you leave the shroud off the videocard, take a normal 120mm fan and put it on top zip tie it to the heatsink and then run the fan off your motherboard.
