In case you guys are interested , here are some HQ pics with two upcoming 1156 socket motherboards ( the 150-200$ segment ) taken by windwithme .

The biostar board looks nice. It has a sort of Gigabyte feel to it.

Looks sweet. Hopefully by the time everything comes out we'll have some X58 reviews here at TPU and we'll be able to review some P55s as well.

Just remember that the Core i7 920 isn't going to be made for a whole lot longer, so once everything is out, i7 will be much more expensive of a platform overall.

Intel is charging the same price for P55 chipsets as the P45 north and southbridge combo , so the whole "cheaper" , and "mainstream" stuff wont apply . The only thing that make these boards cheaper than the i7 boards is the dual channel DDR3 instead of triple channel DDR3 , so overall you get to spend less money building an i5 system . The thing is that you can find a "more than decent" ASRock X58 Deluxe LGA 1366 for about 135EUR in EU (both crossfire and SLI ready in x16/x16 mode ) , and the first socket 1156 motherboard listed , the MSI P55-GD80 ( CFIRE and SLI @x8 speeds ) is no less than 210,95 EUR . So ... i don`t know ... it`s silly .

Well i guess the prices will drop eventually , but being a new generation chipset and all , the prices will be pretty high when the boards hit the stores .
I agree , the Biostar board looks great . Some may say the color scheme is ugly , but i actually like it , and i definitely like the heatsinks . The board looks pretty solid ... one of my favorites .
The other board that i'm interested in is the UT P55-T3EH10 from DFI with digital PWM . I think saying the heatsinks come from Thermalright is a safe bet . Wonder if a Prolimatech Megahalems heatsink would be compatible with some tweaking ( but i don`t think it fits - 130 x 158,7 x 74 mm ) . That would be a sexy combo imo.

DFI has been using Thermalright heatsinks in some of their boards since the first days of P35. Prolimatech also has had some input in DFI's heatsinks, I believe.

It`s an open NAND flash interface, which can install Intel 4GB or 8GB flash memory module.It even can be regarded as additional cache. I understand that the final version of all 1156 mobo`s wont have that slot , but it`s not confirmed . Danishdevil you are right about the Prolimatech . Doing some research i found out in China there were some x58 MB combos including the Prolima with a LANPARTY logo on them .

There will be some changes in the final versions . For example : p55 engineering samples that were presented to the public , that came with the Marvell's 88SE9123 ( Marvell SATA3 chip ) will be stripped due to performance and reliability problems.
First sample of the ASUS P7P55D EVO had it . Later pictures of Gigabyte boards show that the 88SE9123 is gone .

BIOSTAR T5XE


MSI P55-CD45


Basically if you want to save some money and get good performance with the upcoming i5 you should put something like T5XE ( BIOSTAR lower end mobo ) and a Core i5 750@2.66GHZ ( little under 200$ , reported arriving in early September ) on top of your shopping list , but in my opinion a good p45/780i mainboard paired with an e8400 is still the best choice if you are a gamer and you have a lower budget . Anyway as i found out you don`t have to own a nvidia chipset based motherboard to get sli support ( if interested read here : http://en.expreview.com/2009/08/06/exclusive-get-sli-for-your-p45-motherboard.html ) . I love this hardware stuff , first the AMD quadcore unlock , now SLI on p45 chipsets . Maybe tomorow we will be playing crysis on Voodoo and Riva TNT video cards , who knows ( technically impossible , i know ... )

A sub 110EUR motherboard will be released by MSI , P55-CD53

According to the currently listed details, the P55-CD53 motherboard has four DDR3 memory slots, single PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, three PCI-Express x1 and two generic PCI slots ( the picture spots a 3rd one , i know ). It also comes with single Gigabit LAN, 7.1 audio and eight SATA II ports.
I am sorry about the blurry image , but i really can`t find a better one . Anyway i don`t expect the board to look like that , i think it will have a red or ugly brown PCB , because that image is an engineering sample that was exposed to the public along with GD-65 and GD-80 , and used the color scheme to complete the lineup . The board will probably use "leftovers" ...
I may be wrong , the final version could looks exactly like the one in the picture , but i have a strong feeling it won`t .. so i gues we will have to wait and find out .

Gigabyte already anounced the p55 motherboards lineup ( http://www.techpowerup.com/100948/Gigabyte_s_P55_Motherboard_Lineup_Detailed.html ) .

My bet is that Asrock will come up with something cheap and decent , followed by ECS and FOXCONN ( The P55A , and maybe a GTI version of Inferno Katana )
