I've been using my Logitech G5 since like 2005 or 2006 and I play games regularly. How hard do you click.

I have the m60. Fits my hand perfectly. I like it. I believe the m65 is built with durability in mind with 20 million clicks against 8 million clicks of the m60. Might be exactly what your looking for. If your break that one in three months you will average of 20000000 clicks /3 months /30 days = 222222.222222 clicks a month.

My suggestion will be A4tech Bloody Series (v5- particularily) - it cost 17 euros in my country. I have been using their gaming series for more than 5 years now, and yet my needs are much less than yours. I know it looks like a budget mouse, but since you've already went through many of the more expensive options, may be it won't hurt to try something cheaper.

While we are at the topic, not to hijack, but how do you repair the teflon feet of your favourite mouse? I couldn't find anything on amazon.co.uk. Some guy suggested Teflon Tape, but all I get when I search for teflon tape is this?. Isn't there a sheet of teflon I can cut the right-shaped feet?

Using the Steelseries Kinzu v2 Pro Silver for about a year now. Very nice, high quality, overall nice for the buck. Always have Steelseries and Logitech in terms of product quality and longevity :D

+1 for the m60. My only gripe is that the 'soft-touch' finish is shining now for me after about 1 yr of use and also I think the buttons are getting a bit squishy and easy to push. I still have my ancient Sidewinder x5 that works a treat from something like 4 years ago and no wear after 2 years of use. Then I got an x8 and the charging dongle died so then I have the m60.

+1 to the MX518 and G400 crowd.

My first 518 lasted just over 5 years, lasted for god knows how many thousands of hours of counter-strike.

The second one was the 518se, lasted just under 3. They both developed connection issues at the base where the cable goes into the mouse. I still have them and will probably fix them sometime. But I went ahead and got a g400. Going on 2-3 years now.

I am also of the belief that optical>>>>laser. (IMO) All the laser mice I have tried, I have been able to reproduce the "jitter" effect with fast movement or when picking up and placing it again.

Here are three mice I use atm....

Usage is 2-4hrs every day - mix of precision work (low dpi) and twitch (High dpi)

Logitech G9 -
great mouse - software not the best - ergonomics not 100% to my liking - more suited to precision for me - 7/10
Razer DeathAdder -
imho better ergonomics than logitech but material quality is not as good (mouse wheel squeaks/coating is wearing off, laser sensor catches on mousepad - sofware is always online so can be slow at start up - very good twitch mouse -7/10
Steelseries Sensei - best mouse ive ever used - software is small, simple and effective, mouse feels right, easily configuarable, can be quicky and easily switched between very precise or very twitchy (in small increments) - 8.5/10

With regard a mouse pad to match - I love the steelseries 9HD solid pad.

Benchmark Scores Benching is for bitches.
I tend to do a huge amount of gaming online, as well as working on reviews and such, so I typically put in about 16 hours a day at my PC, both for work and pleasure.

I've bought many mice in past months, and although I like to spend top dollar for my mice in hopes of getting a more durable mouse, here I sit with another mouse that doesn't work right, because of "double-clicking". This is apparently a common issue, as most mice use similar, if not the same, button switches.

So, I need ideas. Between a Lachesis, a RAT7, and two Imperator mice, I've had enough of buying blind, and getting mice that only last a couple of months. Razer products are not an option for me any more, after having three die in about the space of 3 months each, although I have to say, the Lachesis was the best overall for taking the abuse I dole out on mice.

What mice do YOU use, and how long have you had it for?

Any problems, or commendations for specific features?

Thanks guys!

:rockout:

(If a company rep wants to send me a mouse for free, please send me a PM.)

Oh for S#!t sakes that RAT went double clicking on you too! I went through two of them. NEVER AGAIN will I buy another one. They are an AWESOME feeling mouse despite their looks. Probably the best mouse I have ever used. BUT......the switches SUCK and so did the customer service. I will NEVER AGAIN buy another one. NEVER.

Now I got a cheap Logitech G5. I know you had issues with those before but I can honestly say I think they have upped the build quality on them. Granted its a different feel and it will take some adjusting to get used to now that you have used a RAT but I think the G5 is a good alternative for you. Mine seems to be better built than the old "rusty" style ones.

Anyway its something to look at.

@ dave directly. I assume you would have looked, but any time I have click issues with mice, and this is new out of the box, not after prolonged use, it was because I had remains of other driver still on the OS, even an empty folder from a previous driver install caused click issues for many of the mice I test.

No its the mouse man. I went through two of them. I reinstalled the OS on BOTH of them just to be sure it wasn't a driver issue. I then moved the mouse over to my Mac and still had the same double clicking issues. Its the build quality of the RAT 7 mouse. It sucks and I don't even click all that hard. To top it off customer service is nonexistent.

I disagree. I picked up the phone, dude on the other end wanted to set up RMA right away, even after I told him that the problem was 1000% my fault.

And no, the Rat7 I killed many weeks ago, recently got the Razer BF3 mouse to match my keyboard, and it has been great until I hit the button a bit too hard, and since then it's double-clicked. It was a progressive thing, too ,as I noticed before that that when I'd get out of vehicles or something in BF3, I'd fire a shot off or two, and one day in a "fit of rage" over BF3, I smacked it pretty damn hard. I do hand exercises every day, to keep my finger "nimble" for guitar playing, so my hand strength is definitely above average.

Trying to edit pictures in photoshop, when one click is two clicks, 75% of the time, is nigh on impossible. Thank god I have that Intuos tablet to use, or I'd be screwed, big time.

I left home yesterday evening, thought about getting a mouse, came home with a new Les Paul instead. Keep the ideas coming, I haven't decided quite yet what to get!

...how do you repair the teflon feet of your favourite mouse? I couldn't find anything on amazon.co.uk.

Here's some sources in the UK, including Amazon. Couldn't find ones for your exact model, but you could probably make do with one of these kits.

Corepad seems to make more exact fit sets than anyone I've seen, including for A4tech, but even on their own website they don't show any for that model. http://www.corepad.com/index.php?pagina=products

I used a Logitech G5 for many years before I replaced it, with a Logitech G500 since the G5 was discontinued. There were zero issues with the G5, just the feet has worn off of the mouse. I replaced them and gave the mouse to a friend, which it is still in action today.

The G500 is much the same, I tend to play a fair bit of PC games, and surf the internet quite a bit. Double clicking and all that happens a lot in my house (not hardware, just me double clicking).

I've replaced switches many times using old mice with good switches and problem solved also you can try to put a paper or plastic bit between the switch and the button

I second this. Bought a G700 because of WoW and too many skills and it works flawlessly. Buy a small 2 battery charger and 2 extra batteries and you can easily be wireless all the time. Tracks very well, too. Just the fingertip buttons are a little loose, but you get used to that easily.

However, there is a refresh of the G700 I believe, maybe it improved on that.

sucks that you have such a bad experience with razer products Dave, i too have a deathadder thats going on something like 5+ years with no issues what so ever, ive logged over 2K hours on CounterStrikeSource alone, that doesnt include the hours ive done on 1.6, half life 2,BFBC2, and now well over 200hours on BF3 and the mouse is still running strong. Good Luck.

I've had a Deathadder, Lachesis (work) and 2 Diamondbacks. Out of those three the Deathadder is the strongest and most pleasant one, I replaced my steelseries Sensei with it and have been happy ever since.

The Lachesis seems to be terrible sensor wise.. even with the latest firmware I still have a jumpy cursor and some "wtf" moments". It came out really nice in reviews and I like the length of the mouse.. it's ok for office use, but I will never game with it.

the diamondbacks never felt like they could support my gaming needs.. too clicky etc.

I'm using corsair M60 and kinda like it. Recently it developed a double click bug on the right click (which is weird since most mice have this symptom on the left one). I sprayed Sonax into the mouse's crack and it seemed to temporarily solve the problem. I believe the M65 should improve at this aspect. But beware of its input lag issue that requires a beta firmware to fix. This topic is still fresh, check it out: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120261

Still using my Microsoft 6000 Laser mouse from 2005, works perfectly even after 2000hrs of CSS, and many other games and been dropped on cement lol. Its so good and reliable I went and bought a second one just in case my original dies, doesn't look like that will happen any time soon.

razor deathadder 3.5k going strong for about 3 years now, though this was a replacement to a different razor mouse that took a dump on me after a couple months. over the life of this current razor, i have logged a ton of gaming hours on it, and i am on my third desktop build over the life of this mouse. about 6k hours or so and counting.

How did you kill the RAT? Did it go double clicking also?

I have been using a ROCCAT Kova+ for almost a year and a half no issues at all. My bother has had four RAT7's go bad on him I almost bought that but figured I would try something different. I still have a Razor death adder that is still working fine.
