recently had a sweet deal for corsair 8x16gb rgb vengeance ddr4, 3200mhz
has not arrived yet.
options: 1- keep it for my dual xeon@2133mhz ram speed, probably better timings,
2- sell it for 4k$ and keep the cash,
3- sell and then buy this 256gb hp branded kit: @2133 exactly the speed cpus support
https://www.ebay.com/itm/DDR4-2133M...h=item33b72a2cb3:g:bUUAAOSw8vZXNRbt:rk:1:pf:0

same value mind you.
what i am not sure of, will the hp server kit work in standard asrock workstation board.
three options, the third seems tempting...
your input welcome

What's your use case?

heavy multitasking, virtualization, 4k gaming with heavy textures, reduce game loading times, benchmarking, always on home workstation server+media.

What are you virtualizing? Mutliple OSs at once? Multiple users?

If not, then there's not even any need for 128gb... I'd say sell the 128gb, buy the 256gb, sell at least 3/4 of the 256gb, keep 32-64gb, make a tidy profit and be on your way. Even 64gb is overkill.

If you're virtualizing multiple OSs at once, or multiple users, sell the 128gb, buy the 256gb, sell half and keep 128gb. Profit.

the problem with that is those are kits, each cpu needs four sticks for octal channel, they are worth less once divided to lesser kits.
the 256 is an ecc reg server kit as well.
btw, any reason the hpe kit wont be compatible?
p.s. the corsair kit was 170$(yeah i know)

Ah I see. Well... in that case, if they're compatible, and you think you can get 4k out of the 128gb kit, I'd definitely go with number 3 just for the shiggle factor.

128gb and no profit, or 256gb and ~2k profit? Yea I'll go with the 256gb lol.

Unfortunately I have no idea if they're compatible.

seems strange that the spd jedec spec show the corsair @15-15-15-36 @2133mhz which is similar to my gskill ripjaws much slower kit@2400mhz
(from reading online specs)
