Because your CPU idle 24c, that means the cooler is working just fine. I see its hitting 300 wattage in the CPU package. I've been saying the same thing over and over. Without limiting the power, most AIO cannot handle 300+ watts.

I guess I should also say at that wattage, you are running into thermal issues in general without sanding the IHS, using Liquid metal and or deliding the CPU. I reach 98c at 290watts with a 12900K. The 12700K I have is delid and can handle 330~ watts before reaching 100c.

I agree, don't think the aio is broken. Yess, but i tried power limiting and when i set i to 125/125 or 170/170 and it just freeze, turn off and say that the clocking failed.

I see you have mentioned the power state set to P1= 4096w.. is there something I can do about that? Because that's what I see in bios

It is the only way to set that feature. You could continue using that software if you like, but the only way to learn things is to try them ;)

I also have to assume that software does not set XMP? In other words, you could also be losing out on RAM speed unless you bought a kit that runs at SPD speeds.

Image above is from an older boards BIOS, but you will see something similar going to yours.
Spneekypeet already posted this. I'm not sure what settings your doing in windows, but that P1= needs to be set in the BIOS.

They should be better, but MSI cheats the power states which runs the CPU at full tilt because as mentioned it sets 4096w as default.
I have mine at 4096W as well and don't have that type of temperature.

You are also at 1.18Vcore not the stock 1.3~v that the turbo uses. Combine that with a unlimited power draw and you reach 300watts easily.

Is that correct? And what happens if it fails in bios? In intel xtu it didn't work as i said, but it only restarts and send you to bios andeverything is normal again.

P1 and P2 are short and long. I'm not sure what will happen it it "fails" I guess if it doesn't boot you can clear the CMOS. The only thing that should do is limit the CPU package so that you are not hitting 300 watts. Set it to 255 / 255 and 210 A. If you are still at 100c lower it some more. The other option is manually tune your overclock like Vario has done. 1.15v can do a long way.

To be honest, you shouldn't be poking around if you don't see those settings right in front of you (its even the screenshot YOU provided). I don't have that exact MSI MB, but all the ones I've used so far Z690/Z790 have a option to change all that for you like sneekypeet posted. OC menu > somewhere in the middle. I wish MSI put this on the EZ-Mode page for new users like yourself.

The op said this was Cinebench R20. 90c makes perfect sense. Once again if the turbo is set to P1=4093w.
In r20 i get less than 75c with a single tower cooler

Sorry to go off on you here but this is never-ending circle of new people saying exactly the same thing, but not understanding how the turbo P1=P2 works.

If you let the CPU have unlimited power for the turbo and you do not set a voltage it will pull 1.3 to 1.35v Cinebench and draw 280-300 watts.

My guest is that you're MB is configured for a box cooler therefore you're not pulling 300 watts.

My pl1 is always set at 4096 wattage, cpu doesnt pull more than 220 in cbr20. R20 is relatively light.

I meant if does two i put a white line under is correct! I just want to be 100% sure before I start tweaking in bios!

I found that cooler tuning, should i set that to box cooler?

It should help lowering the CPU temp.
Okey. Does it lower PL1 and pl2? Just so i get the knowledge about what I'm doing I looked what another person in here wrote and on the pictures it lower it at pl1 65w and pl2 134w.. isn't that to low?

Did you run a benchmark to check the CPU temp?

Haven't done it yet, because my system failed two times when lowering pl1 and pl2 to 125/125 in intel xtu and the cooler alternativ in CPU cooler tuning i bios is much lower

When load is removed, how quickly does it return to baseline? It should be near instant. That would give you an indication of cooler or thermal paste effectiveness.

When I first bought my 12900KS, Noctua, and EVGA board I ran it for a day without undervolting, completely out of the box settings with just XMP enabled, the EVGA imposed default uncapped 4096W power limits (and you can't actually restrict power on my motherboard, only with XTU), and yet I still didn't have failures running benchmarks or playing games. Yes, it would peg 100C, but it wouldn't fail the way the OP is describing.

The other thing to consider is CPU warping, maybe a contact frame.

Instantly! Goes to 100° under cinebench20 test and right back to idle tempen between 25-28°

I don't have bad temps with my Alder Lake CPU, also my motherboard came with a backplate to prevent motherboard bending and maybe it helped for the CPU as well...

Yes.. maybe I should try that out to get a permanently fix or just buy me a 13th gen. Or is that hotter?
