My i7 920 seemed to be stable at 3.8GHz at 1.175v, which seems rather low for a 920 at that speed. However, when I want to jump to 4GHz, it takes at least 1.3v to be stable. This seems somewhat higher than what it normally takes for a 920 to get to 4GHz. I've heard of some people lowering the CPU PLL voltage (not QPI/DRAM voltage) and improving stability.

Has anyone had any luck with this? What PLL voltage did you use? I tried 1.5 PLL voltage and lowering to 1.275v vcore, but it crashed in OCCT.

I've never heard of lowering pll below 1.8 helping. I'll try that out. What are the rest of your voltages: ioh/vtt/RAM, etc

PLL voltage adjustments were usually made when pushing 1.4V+ through one of those chips. The benefit was not too great also until the OC was pushing past the 4.5GHz barrier. 4.0GHz with a d0 chip can be done at 1.28-1.3 pretty well. Most users went for 4.2@1.33V or so. Your voltage is not uncommon. I have seen d0 @ 4.0GHz stock voltage (1.25V) but that was not as often as people would think.

I can push out 4,2GHz from my D0 at just 1,3V but my mobo is pissing me off with it's cold boot issues (won't start if system has been standing shut off for several hours) and idiotic instability issues. It can work for 2 days under heaviest loads and then it will lockup while playing some old game that barelly pokes the CPU muscles. I've tried hundreds of voltage and clocks combinations and nothing is ever 100% stable like my usual 3,8GHz overclock thats rock solid.
