Just trying to tie my shoe laces when getting ready to go to school being 15 years old, I just got my hip nerve stuck in this curved position and couldn't move for 5-10 mins. The same thing has happened again twice since then, always unexpectedly. Some falls while running fast playing soccer were funny apart from the one when I broke both of my wrists. That was bad...

Anyway, happy birthday neatfeatguy and get well soon mate! Thanks for your kind giveaway also.

My games of choice are Brigador: Up-Armored Edition and Wargame: Red Dragon.

One time when I was a kid we were playing tag. it was summer and my front door was covered by a mosquito net. I didn't know my mum locked the door but forgot to take down the net, I just crashed head first into the door at breakneck speed, got a concussion.

I'm not joining for any games.

This was when I was 15 years old. I woke up in the morning to go to school on my left side with my arm in such a position that it cut off all blood to the arm so it fell asleep, I even deep asleep to the point that I couldnt move it or feel any pain to my left arm.
So when I woke up I coudnt move it for about 2 minutes, all of these ideas where going through my mind. I thought i needed to call 911 and take me to the hospital because I thought my arm was dead and it needed to me amputated. By the 3rd minute feeling started to come and and I was fine.
I learned from that day to sleep on my back only. Sorry no stories of broken bones.

Thanks so much!!!

Story time!!!

So, She needed a better network connection in the bedroom for her laptop, so I decided to pull a drop from the back of the house. I didn't feel like doing it by going thru the attic space, as I'd still have to figure a good way thru the dry wall and bead board, assuming I could get the line down the 10' walls in the century old house. So, one long line, draped and hooked strategically out of the way. I ran it all the way in the bedroom, room to spare, and ended it. Then, at the back door, I sat down in the floor to snip from the box, and end it there. I have a 2 1/2' high table at the back foyer where I place my "pocket junk" and odd receipts and stuff, so I put all the work things there to make the end on the cable. I stripped the end, and was working back the individual lines, when I saw a "flash" from the corner of my eye, followed by a dull pain in my thigh. The pocket knife I had used to strip the line and straighten the cable hadn't made it all the way onto the table, and slipped off, falling point first, 2 feet down to sink into my thigh. 3 years later, this is a still a 1/2" long red scar on my thigh, and a reminder not to be quite so stupid.

If I get lucky, I'd like either the SOASE Trinity, or Gal Civ 2 :) thanks tons for a wonderful giveaway!!

I'm entering for Ashes of the Singularity and Planetary Annihilation: TITANS

One story I could think is when I was like 4-5 years old in preschool.. we have small school buses that aren't really Buses, they are small, just like a Van, so we just call them "School Services", now I used to sit near the back door(it opens like a door, not upwards or sideways), we just sit around there waiting for everyone to come before the driver drives us home. while waiting, the door is always open, and I was chilling around the school service because I was always early to come. I tend to put my thumbs in between the hinges of the backdoor for some reason, and it became a habit, until somebody suddenly closed it with my thumb still in the hinges. My right thumb got crushed, it was so painful, especially for 4 year old. it was blue all week and I could not play my SNES. after a month or so I didn't learn and continued putting my thumb on the hinges and It happened again. then,I finally learned :laugh:

Happy birthday!

Bunch of years ago I was cutting tar paper with a razer utility knife on the shed roof my dad and I were building. I was cutting towards me (you can see where this is going) while leaning towards the roof edge on the ladder. Slipped a bit, jerked back and and cut my wrist pretty good. I was impressed how much blood there was. At least I didn't fall off the ladder too heh

Brigadore and Escalation.

Awesome stories so far. Good to see I'm not alone in the "I did something stupid and got myself hurt" club.

I'm taking entries up until 8pm CST this Friday (10/27). See the first post for rules!

Blood Knights.
Kingdoms: New lands.

As for getting hurt, well I have a ton of these stories. I will pick the dumbest for your amusement.

This happened when I was 16. My dad and I were doing some electrical work for a friend, well my dad was doing the work, I was more or less standing around and getting him tools. Texas can have some really weird weather patterns in the spring and fall, it can go from really damned cold to burning hot in the span of a few hours. I got up that morning and put on some blue jeans, because it was in the low 60's, but by the time noon rolled around, it was 95*F outside. Suffering immensely in the heat, I decided that I was going the Stone Cold Steve Austin route and turn my blue jeans into shorts with my freshly sharpened pocket knife.

It was a good plan, I just neglected to actually take the jeans off before executing this plan. The right leg came off without a hitch, the left....not so much. I wound up slicing through the jeans and my leg too. Looked like a horror movie with all the blood. I taped it up and continued the day. Still have the scar.

Happy birthday neatfeatguy! I hope you (and your husky) have a quick and full recovery. Not interested in the giveaway, but thanks for your generosity! I'll share a recent story all the same since I'm on the mend from a mishap myself:

Went out for a walk around home a month ago to get a little exercise after work. I was in the middle of crossing the street and eyed a rapidly approaching car. I kept thinking, they see me and they will stop for their stop sign... right up to the point where I could see the driver looking at their cell phone. A split second later, I'm rolling off the hood of their car and onto the pavement. After a brief detour the the ER for an MRI, I was diagnosed with a bad fracture of the tibia, torn quadriceps and MCL. Been in a brace since the accident and was finally referred to a surgeon to evaluate if a surgical screw will be needed to stabilize the fracture. (Looks like it!) Sure felt like an idiot for trusting the other guy to stop when they should have!

a few years ago i was playing on the beach with my 2 kids and our dog. A little kid came running over keen to join in the fun, he was a cute looking thing, little glasses and a big puffy body suit/warmer thing on. He was sort of giggling and enjoying the fun when suddenly our sheepdog Jess came bounding over and knocked the kid backwards in to a big ( shallow) pool of water.

I panicked and walked straight in and picked the little fella out.........he was crying ( not hurt) I looked around for his mother and saw a woman striding over towards me..

Me
" i am so sorry about that, hes not hurt, just wet"

Her
" thats fine, hes a little brat, i'll take him back to his Mother"

She walked off with him......laughing her head off.

@neatfeatguy I'm sorry about your accident, and hope you feel better soon. Happy Birthday! This is a very generous and awesome birthday gift you give yourself! :)
Those that have done giveaways will know what i mean. Thank you! :respect:

I will not be entering, but wanted to share a klutzy accident. Most accidents I have had, whether in childhood or adulthood have been garden variety, except for this freak one.

When I was 12 or 13, I was sitting in a rocking chair my mother mostly used. I was trying to watch television, and my younger sister became increasing annoying. Finally, in exasperation, I slammed my hands down on the padded arms and screamed "just shut up!"

Karma is a thing. My mother did needlepoint or cross-stitch, or some such activity requiring needles in that chair. She would leave them poked into the chair arm. Yeah, you guessed it....

My left ring finger felt funny, and wouldn't bend. I picked my hand up and looked at it. It took a moment before panic set in. The round end of the sewing needle had passed directly through the joint closest to the hand, leaving a bulge a 1/2" high on the topside of the knuckle, without breaking the skin.

I went to my mother quickly and held my hand out. She tried pliers, and could not pull the needle out. So, we walked over to the emergency room about a mile away. I don't remember what they did to get it out, but it came out the top. I still to this day have that scar.

What a dumbass I was!!! :slap: I never slam my hands down in frustration to this day, ever!

ive already entered upthread but have another one. when i was around 10 we lived in a house with a long hallway with a hardwood floor that had the wood parallel to its direction. i used to run and slide down it in my socks. one day i caught the edge of a board just right and got a nice one inch long splinter in my big toe. even the emergency department could not dig it out. had to soak it every day and squeeze the goop out. after about a week the chunk of wood came out too. i still shudder when i think of it..

I got another one to share:

11 years old, at my baseball game. I was pitching and the batter hit a grounder that made it past the shortstop, the left fielder was playing shallow and got to the ball quick, he made a throw home but it was horribly wide and the runner on third took advantage of the bad throw. I ran to home plate to cover as the catcher chased the ball down, he grabbed it and tossed it to me.

I was kind of straddling the plate with my body facing third base line and the runner came sliding in, he cleated me (which was against the rules in our age bracket). The ball, I caught with my glove and I went to sweep my glove over the plate to tag the runner, which would have been a tag out, but the runner cleated me. He was the biggest kid in our age bracket, most of us at age 11 stood about 4'6" and weighed around 100 pounds. This kid was just shy of 6ft and weighed 180 pounds. He got me in my left forearm and broke my ulna. I had to wear a full arm cast (with my arm bent at about a 30 degree angle) from my hand up to just below my armpit. 6 weeks in that damn cast.

To make the story even more entertaining, this happened in the second inning of the game. My mom was working as a "volunteer" (all parents of players had to eventually "volunteer") in the concession stand and didn't see the accident. She had to come down to get me and take me to the ER for x-rays. My dad was working and didn't get to the game until about the 4th inning. He told me when he arrived he couldn't find me so he asked one of the moms of the other players and she told him of what happened and that my mom took me to get x-rays.....my dad looked at the lady and said, "Did he at least make the out?" (meaning if I tagged the guy out). The lady responded with a "What the hell is wrong with you!" response and my dad said she literally punched him in the shoulder hard and asked if he even cared about what happened to me. My dad is a kidder, he was only joking and tried to explain it to the lady but she wanted nothing to hear about it and was pissed at him.

I spent my summer in a full arm cast, but that didn't keep me from riding my bike - even though I was told not to. I rode one handed all over the place and I even crashed once when the bag I had hanging from the handlebars had too much weight and momentum during a turn that it swung hard enough to cause the handlebars to twist all the way around, along with the front wheel. I went over the handlebars crashing to the pavement. I got up, brushed myself off, got back on the bike and went home - no injury sustained from the crash.

Just a little bump to the top for all to see that may have missed this. After 8pm tonight I'll work on putting all the names and games together and getting winners picked. If you haven't picked anything yet, here are the rules (list of games can be found on the original post):

Rules:

IMPORTANT, READ ALL RULES:
1.
Platform is Steam
2. Pick up to 2 games you'd like a chance at winning
3. Must be a member for at least 1 full month of this posting (must be a member of TPU as of 9/25/17)
4. Share, if you want, a story of how you hurt yourself doing something routine or stupid.
5. Wait for me to announce the winners - get your entry in by Friday (10/27) 8pm CST

Or if you just want to share a silly story on how you injured yourself and not pick any games, please feel free to share!

Hmm.. just to add some more...
Torn rotator cuff stretching to push a loop of cable in the ceiling.
Hairline fracture on the wrist, crossing the back fence and snagged my foot, fell to the pavement. The week before I have to drill holes in steel girders for a camera placement project.
Tripped over my own feet leaving the office, scraped 2" hole in my pants, and a larger hole in my knee. Actually left a black drag mark from pants material on the sidewalk about 15" long.
Was running thru the woods at 8, ran thru a barbed wire fence, 6 stitches in my leg where it ripped off a 1" patch of skin.
Ex-wife moved the couch in the living room, had to get up for a bottle in the middle of the night, kicked the corner, broken little toe.
Went to college with an aunt, bored and spinning in a chair on the mezzanine, lost balance, 3 stitches in eyebrow.
Oooh!! Stabbed myself below the knee in the military, using a pocket knife to peel tile up from the floor, had knife pointed back.

apparently, I'm more accident prone than I recalled.....
