1440p gaming pc.

and see how it feels
Feels A W E S O M E (OK hand emoji)

Unless it becomes possible for @W1zzard to post the Performance Benchmark Review of the upcoming title, the raw horsepower/VRAM requirements will remain vague.
It will become possible on May 26, 2026

I wouldn't go lower than a 5070 Ti though.
aka the real 5070 ;)

7600X is a good starting point, no two ways about that.
Just make sure to upgrade to a 10600X (ZEN6) later on when available

For console maybe.

For consoles only, that's more like it, SMH!
That blasted exclusivity deal, gotta be kiddin' me

Thank you @dgianstefani for (indirectly) reminding me of how they handled the GTA V launch.

Hopefully Intel comes forth and bundles their Xe3 lineup with the GTA VI by outbidding Sony/Microsoft, and that we will see the anticipated title gets released on PC on May 26, 2026.
Fingers crossed emoji

i am looking at the Ryzen 5 7600x and the Radeon rx6800 xt

I play in whqd wiht freesync monitor with a ryzen 7600x, 2x32gib dram, 2tb nvme, w11 pro and a powercolor 7800xt hellhound.

I think the cheapest ryzen 7500f / 7600 / 7600x processor.
Radeon 9070 of your choice
2tb nvme
mainboard, cpu cooler, nvme, pc case and power supply unit of your choice

( i am trying to get to the am5 socket so i am able to upgrade when they finally release GTA VI )

If that is the only game than you better wait another 36 months. Or just play on the p(l)aystation 7.

i actually found a powercolor fighter 7800 xt to go with the 7600x

no

definitely not the only game i want to play, its just an excuse to finally upgrade to am5

At least.

XD! That's a long way to go, I mean, PS6 hasn't even been released yet.

GTA VI most likely (I do hope I'm wrong) will be PS5/SeriesX exclusive (SMH) for a year.
yes the GTA VI trailer 2 actually was recorded on the base ps5 one of our trusted sources on this stuff said the plan was release to ps5 first then wait a month or so and release to whatever the newest one or two Xboxes are available and then 8-13 months later to PC to prevent piracy

What kind of games do you play?

I'm into Skyrim/Witcher sort of titles.

Just like its predecessor then.

this is what i was thinking ofc i would get some parts used to spare a little expense.

What are your current specs?

And yes, used is probably better if you do need an upgrade.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kVmqwY

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor ($208.29 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 9070 16 GB Video Card ($682.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $891.27

The RX 9070 GPU is a good chunk faster than the previous Gen 7800 XT. At 1440p, if the games you play are GPU intensive, especially AAA games at high settings, you want to buy the fastest GPU your budget can afford
thank you

You've quoted yourself mate.

What are the specs of your existing PC (and not the current selection of the parts that you intend to buy)?

Thank you @Dr. Dro who shared a better idea for the graphics card, i am in a location where it is almost impossible to find a graphics card although i do like 2 hours or so from a microcenter so i may try to find a ride there instead. However maybe you guys could help me find some links for some that you recommend the types of games i will be playing are GTA V and VI when it comes out, elder scrolls 3, 5, and 6 when it comes out, forza horizon 5, ark survival evolved, stray, and battle front 2

He has a working 6800XT and a dead PC, and wants to "upgrade" to a 7800XT for 5-10% more performance for more than $700.

Well, OP should elaborate on what died. If the CPU is any good then he should just get a new motherboard and invest his money on a RTX 5080.

@MR.noID
Other option would be getting a **used** 5700x3D + AM4 or 12700k + B660 and again, putting the money towards RTX 5080.

He doesn't actually have a 6800XT, it was implied but turns out was just the original idea for his new GPU before changed to the 7800XT, which for the price is still a horrifically bad choice.

I've already suggested a much cheaper non AM5 build with a much stronger GPU, and perks like not having RAM at JEDEC 4800 MT, and having a decent SSD/better PSU/form factor etc., but he prefers his original idea.

caught fire had to scrap everything

caught in a house fire had to scrap everything

I hope everything is alright.

Here's the list of GPUs you should be looking for (I'm sure others have already mentioned it in this thread)

Nvidia: RTX 5070ti, RTX 5080
AMD: RTX 9070, 9070XT

For the motherboard and CPU, either get something used for super cheap or ryzen 7600 + AM5.

i might go with that one thank you

btw just to clarify.. the 1440p resolution you meant 16:9 2560x1440 and not 21:9 3440x1440 resolution correct?
yes

You can do better.

DO NOT unnecessarily overpay for the 7800 XT for its ridiculous asking of $704.85, that too for a previous generation mid-ranged GPU. You can do better. Previously i linked you the following:

This suggested RX 9070 GPU is AMDs current Gen offering, delivering significantly better performance at a lower cost. On top, it supports FSR 4 and offers improved ray tracing performance - which is becoming increasingly relevant with newer titles with baked-in RT, which is GPU brutal! At this point, the 7800 XT is just silly beans for its current asking price. I wouldn't pay anything north of $400 for it.

For best performance, use a single kit of 2x16GB (32GB total) DDR5 RAM. Aim for a speed (bandwidth) of 6000MHz, which works well with Ryzen processors and doesn't cost much more

OPTIONAL: Depending on your individual needs, maybe drop the HDD spinner and grab a 2TB SSD. Add more storage later when required. Essentially a total of 2TB storage instead of 3TB unless specific requirements suggest otherwise.

Go ahead. Justify a 7800xt for $740 in 2025.

Room temperature.
you're right i agree but even on places like amazon its almost impossible to find a gpu out here and i think i think im going to have no choice but to try and get to micro center but the gas it would take would be more expensive than buying an overpriced gpu so i will have to find someone else to drive

Picking from any of the online retailers listed here isn't a possibility?

@OP
Go with NVIDIA/AM5

I paid slightly less for a 7900XT and I'm not even in the USA.
