Patriot has also jumped on the USB 3.0 bandwagon with their Supersonic series of drives. While the Supersonic Magnum is the flagship drive, the normal Supersonic packs quite the punch and breaks the advertised performance barrier - giving you more than you bargained for.

Thanks for the review. I have been using same type but 64Gb version for 2 months. The performance is so far acceptable. Not through benchmark but the reading on Win7 file transfer details it shows about 110Mb/s during read, and 70+ during write. Both sequential of course.

Random read write test result?

Separate cap means that you can misplace it
No extras included
People may mistake it for a USB 2.0 drive
I'd call that a plus. These things seem to develop their own legs and walk off enough already. I can only imagine that a USB 3.0 drive will run off.

Apparently, USB 3.0 was available 2 years ago before any flash drives became readily available.

At the moment, this Patriot USB3 is only recognized as USB2 device with Dell Precision M4600 workstation laptop. Temporary solution is to add a Powered USB3 Hub in between them and that will work. The problem is we don't bring Hub + power adapter everywhere we go. Hopefully a solution in near future by either Dell or Patriot will solve this.

Test carried out:-
1) Patriot USB3 stick on Desktop Asus Maximus IV - OK
2) Patriot USB3 stick on Dell M4600 - KO
3) Patriot USB3 stick on Powered USB 3.0 Hub connected to M4600 - OK
4) Seagate Goflex 500Gb USB3 external HDD on Dell M4600 - OK
