Benchmark Scores Why sit on the Bench when you can get in the game and Crunch!!!
There are much nicer and better quality coolers out there from Noctua/Phanteks/GamerStorm... If you're going to get some nice hardware then why settle for a budget cooler.

Spend the extra $20-30... it's worth it imho

I would recommend the Noctua NH-U14S but it seems to be harder to find than some others atm???

agreed, wireless adapter is not always necesary, actually gaming on wireless is not as good as it appears to be,
optical drive can be replaced with a 5.25" bay Fan controler,
@Caring1 most cases always include 1 or 2 fans ... buying or adding fans for the case is not bad,

Nice cooler recomendation, also a AIO can be the best upgrade for that CPU, there are few performer units like H60i, Thermaltake Water3.0 performer, intel AIO, just for name a few,

Also there is an item that everyone is forgetting over here, Thermal compuound, intel processor came with pre-applied thermal compund, but is pre-applied on stock cooler, i would recomend you Arctic Cooling MX4 for your processor,
if you will plan to delid add coollaboratory liquid Pro / Ultra to your list, Delid for temps drop :D

Only cosmetic comments:
* I built a similar system for a friend (H440 case) and the one regret I had was that the 212 EVO just stuck out in that sea of black and red. The cooler that would look awesome would be the NZXT Kraken X41 (yeah, I know it's expensive)(or even the X61)
* Why a blue LED fan? Everything else is black or red. (if you got an AIO, you wouldn't need another fan)
* Might want to step up to a G-Sync monitor????
If you're going to put an optical drive in the system, may as well make it a Blu-ray.
* That RAM is not a very good value considering some of the deals that are out there for 16 GB, such as G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 ($104) or CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 ($120 after promo code EMCAPKV24(48 hour sale))

If i can suggest an alternative build. You could also go for a 1000W power supply (you have the budget) if you plan to crossfire at some point because if you overclock you may be going over 850W with 2x290x

Kept the 212 EVO since he's not really overclocking or tampering with his system, all he's gonna do is game.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Well... here is what I saw in the first post...

Looks good to me overall.

1. I see people mentioning the cooler, but what I don't see was how hard you want to push the CPU. The 212 Evo should take most 4670K's to around 4.5Ghz depending on the quality of the silicon. So I do not see a point in something more costly unless you plan on really pushing the CPU

2. 8GB is enough for gaming so I wouldn't do 16GB personally... That said, there are better deals for faster ram out there. For example this GSkill Ares 1866 Mhz CL 9 2x4GB for $69 Shipped: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...231550&cm_re=DDR3_1866-_-20-231-550-_-Product

3. I like Krusha's build at the same cost, however that platform is overkill for gaming and will perform WORSE than a 4790K because of the much lower clockspeeds. He is missing quad channel memory (not like you lose much, but still). And moved on to a more power hungry GPU in the 290x. If he would use all the cores, I would love that build. But since he is 'not really overclocking' and 'all he is going to do is game', I would stick with the 4790K.

Other thoughts:
Don't need an i7 to game. A 4690K would save $80.
USB 3.1 is in the process of rolling out. You might want to wait for it - the MSI Gaming 6.
Why not a M.2 SSD? Eliminate 2 cables.
Still wish you'd use something else for the CPU cooler.

all he's gonna do is game
Does he really want a full tower system? Looks impressive, takes up a lot of space. You could rework this with a uATX motherboard and a 350D case without losing performance or capability....

agreed, an i7 its not necesary for gaming, but an i7 will make more "future Proof" its build,
dont see obligatory or necesary USB 3.1... we can live without...
M2 SSd are interesting but as far as i know price is not a frinedly fact...

by the way ...take a look at my list.. its all he needs already...

Looks ok peche...

I wouldn't go Z87 OC board for a non overclocker. I wouldn't go Z87 for that matter. Z97 boards, something like the ASRock Extreme 6 has superior audio (ALC1150 CODEC), and a BIOS flash to broadwell support while, potentially, not all Z87 boards will do that. I also prefer WD over Seagate due to failure rates being slightly higher on Seagate. There is also no reason for an AIO for a non overclocker... or get a smaller one (120mm rad instead of 2x120mm).

EDIT: And with his budget, I wouldn't get a 'lowly' 960... 970 or 290 would be my choice for 1080p gaming since a 960 barely handles today's games full tilt.

Don't see a reason to drop the whole way down to a GTX 960. And the 960's 2 GB might become a problem down the road...

I like the 212 EVO, just not how it will look in that case with those parts. I'm not an AIO fanboy.

Great prices you have there, the cheapest i7 4790k processor costs 340€ here.

There is enough budget left to get the 4x4gb ram. Also 290x is more power hungry but faster and cheaper than a 970 once you go above 1080p (which he could in the future). 970 is better if he stays at 1080p. I think my build is more future proof. Is the same price and has better cpu that also runs cooler than a i7 4790K. Also according to this the 5820 is same or marginally better. Plus it runs cooler so its easier to overclock:

And your logic is it's overkill but it's the same money so don't buy it? I don't get it

Benchmark Scores well I've fried a 775' P4 12 years ago, that counts?

970 or 290 would be my choice for 1080p gaming since a 960 barely handles today's games full tilt.
well you are right about GTx 960, agreed,

but about Cooling, I see no reason why you cannot have a decent cooler such an AIO for your processor even when you are 100% sure that you will not overclock it, I have water on my locked i7, no regrets on it, also I will delid it in a couple of weeks,

About the motherboard I didn't took your points in cosideration when picking, also processor is unlocked for future overclock, to take 100% advantage of it!

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Because you are paying $100 more for a cooler....................... why? When you can overclock plenty on that $35 cooler anyway?

You can overclock on nearly every Z97 board peche. As I said, that board is made for overclocking, EXTREME (read LN2/Dry Ice). Sure its fine for daily use and gaming, however there are better choices, for many reasons, at the same price as I outlined above.

Why are you delidding? Temperature and not voltage limited or just want to take a chance at borking your CPU while invalidating its warranty at the same time? I never understood why people risk delidding for no reason... (the only reason to me to delid is if you are temperature and not voltage limited for overclocking).

The cooler is $60 and if those load temps where achieved with CM V8 this AIO should be whisper quiet. Plus mild overclocking is so simple today i dont see why anyone wouldn't do it.

The cooler is actually $95 (Tt BW 3.0)... not $130... my fault there. You can 'mildly' overclock on the 212 Evo and save $65 (Evo 212 is $30).

Indeed it is simple and why not... but he said no overclocking, and the cooler that he has on it will do fine to around 4.5GHz depending on a few factors (silicon, ambient temps, etc).

I just saw your post from earlier. For any game that can use more cores, it would be a better CPU. However for those that don't, it will be the same or worse (your listed benchies are at 2560x1080 which is NOT a CPU bound res like 1080p is which is what the OP is going to be using) and 3dMark 11 scores are HEAVILY core dependent so that benchmark is useless. Throw me some comparisons that are at 1080p and I would be happy to stand corrected. :)

well i just see the saving point there...

as i told you before, i choose the motherboard without taking all the considerations for the case, you hae the point there ...!

Agreed

Because fuck the police...:pimp:
i dont like high temps, this easy option for lowering temps seems pretty atractive for me, im using the razor method for delidding mine's

Actually those where the ones available at TPU there weren't any others so I didn't cherry pick anything. Also now i realize you where talking to peche about his AIO. I recommended this which is $60

I edited and removed the cherry picking comment...sorry about that. I now see that is the only res they test the CPU at (which is fine for those that run that peculiar as hell res (isn't it typically 2560x1440/1600??). But considering most people are still at 1080p, or even lower more CPU bound resos, its actually a CPU bound res, it would make more sense to me that it was tested at 1080.

As far as your cooler... same story, just would save less, but still $25 is $25. That said, the 240 is $85 at newegg... the 120mm is $60(ish). I don't count MIR... but if you get it back, it sure is $60.
