One of the first things to do when problems happen and you can't pinpoint it is to clean install windows (second HDD or partition best), that's why in my post in your previous thread I mentioned clean installation. Specially if you recycled the Windows installation from a previous computer with different hardware (That was my experience)

Anyway it would be interesting how an OS ended so corrupted like that, specially if you hadn't malware there and was a fresh install.

I think CJCerny is right :)

This is why I was rocking 3 seperate windows 7 installs until recently. I'm happy with my system's stability in windows.

Still I occasionally have to boot into 32 bit win7 to run seatools or something. Maybe I should install it again.. just in case.

OP congrats your problems were fixed so easily !

Because in my 20 years of working in software QA and reloading images and OSes a couple dozen of times a week, I've never seen a bad OS install. The only time it happens is if there is hardware trouble during the install or something after the install corrupts it. I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just saying that I've never seen it happen in 20 years where you couldn't trace it back to a hardware issue. Hopefully, the corruption in this case was not caused by a hardware issue. I've seen driver and 3rd party software installs cause this kind of problem too and maybe that's what happened here.

I have seen and experienced it a few times and yes on clean installs it has not been right from the get go, tbh now when it happens I spend maybe an hour or so of troubleshooting when it does happen to no avail to reload Windows again and voila all is well. Again I have seen this on everything from 98 (possibly even 95 though if that was to f**k up you usually wouldn't finish the installation) to 7. Just because it hasn't happened to you does not mean it does not happen....

Yeah In my case I install the drivers and stuff like programs, configurations, etc (my data is on a partition), then I do a cleanup of registry and hard disk, a defrag, then I make a compressed image with Ghost or any other software and save it on a partition or second HD..

Whenever the system corrupts, becomes slow or something, I will recover from the image :)

Anyway I will install a second instance of Windows in my 100GB partition which is empty just in case :)

Lets hope Evolved won't have to resort to this :toast:
