Patriot has released an updated version of the Rage drive that offers up to 180 MB/s read and 50 MB/s write in a small & compact package. We take a closer look to find out if the Rage XT is like Speedy Gonzales, or ends up huffin' and puffin' through the benchmarks.

The write speeds are really dissapointing, close to USB 2.0 limits. Probably should have dinged more for that.

Nice review!

However, I was wondering wether you could include things like random read/write in there if possible. It would be nice to see how a drive like this would perform with for an instance windows8's new portable function and stuff.

Just a suggestion :D

Indeed. I am looking at a USB 3.0 stick for a Linux boot drive for my main m-itx rig.

USB 3.0 has so much potential for high speed USB data storage. I have so many USB 2.0 SD cards/readers/thumb drives and as much as I am interested in buying a USB 3.0 drive like the Patriot RAGE I feel like waiting for something faster. USB 3.0 speed is so much faster then this.
