Looking for recommendations to mount a 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" bay; no need for an icepack tray as cooling is not an issue.

From the reviews

1. GENERAL: plastic that pretends to be aluminum cooling fins (I knew that when ordering)
2. DESIGN: all of the screw inserts on the 3.5 inch side have incorrect size and thread, NOT the standard #6-32

I don't need the cooling, so the fake fins are not an issue, but I do need the standard screw threads as I will be using special hard drive mounting screws.

I have so many of these because they're cheap and they work great. My two 1TB Crucial MX500s are mounted on one of these.

I'll also add that I've used these adapters in pre-built systems without any issues.

I usually make my own. Get out the Snap-On metal shears, cut a piece of aluminum or steel panel, put the bends in it then drill needed holes. Add screws, mount it then forget about it. Total cost $0. Sometimes I get fancy and round the corners with the Dremel tool. I airbrushed the first ones I made years ago black but the prep & cleanup took longer than making the bracket.

but, generally, if it's old type case with 5.25" bay too - you can screw ssd with one screw only and let it hang there...

I used some random aliexpress copy of this product:

If I am going to mount a 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" slot, I sure as heck wont waste that much space when i can fit two of them without issue. Though that is only for the ones I actually bother to mount. Most of the time I just let them hang around in the breeze, perhapse some double sided tape or some straps. Its a SSD, it doesn't care what orientation its hanging in.

Ah, the memories. I got a similar one with my first SSD (ADATA SP900 64GB) back in the day and it did its job just fine.

Seems the Corsair bracket indeed has the correct (6-32) outer threads for mounting.

Got the bracket; as suspected, needed rethreading to the 6-32 found on 3 1/2" hard drives, but that was not too hard.
