How is your case airflow?

My 970 Evo 500GB and my 980 Pro 1TB get upto ~43 degrees C during gaming from it and around 30~ when idle.

Looking at the Nzxt N7 Z590 motherboard, my guess is the shrouds covering the lower half of the board probably hurt cooling over the two M.2 slots.

I have the same heatsink. Used it on EVO 970 500GB with my last motherboard and works well when there is direct airflow like a Noctua 40mm fan sitting on top of your GPU backplate pointing right at it.

If I remember correctly for EVO 970 500GB has a metal sink on the backside of the PCB so you don't want to use the bottom thermal pad or that heat sink won't fit properly. Recommend using plyers to help latch the clips on by first clipping one side then using the plyers to pull the other tab onto the heatsink to avoid scratching the surface or damaging the PCB as you're stretching the clip around. It will be a tight fit. Also I remember on that SSD the controller is a tad higher than the nand so you want the clip near the controller to be more centered over the controller to help prevent angled contact with controller to the thermal pad to the heatsink.

I can suggest the JIUSHARK M.2-THREE. It uses a fan and at 50% pwm (1250rpm) i cannot hear it.

Currently i am missusing one on top of my 4090 backplate.

My 970 EVO was hot even at idle when placed in m.2 slot between gpu and cpu.

I initially solved it by adding intake fan from side of case, which effectively blew directly over the GPU and the m.2 slot area.

The ssd is now in a sabrent pcie adaptor which has a built in heatsink and has reasonable temps without the intake fan.

The 980 pro is in that m.2 slot now and runs way cooler than my 970 evo did without a heatsink or fan blowing on it.

Maybe the evo plus inherited the hot 970 evo design?

My pc is sort of stable (not 100%) but no crashes do to what i know is ssd related, It does get above 70c

For reliability, most of the time your SSD temperature should range between 30ÂşC and 50ÂşC (86ÂşF to 122ÂşF) for SSDs under load.

Above 70C when you just run a game from it? Idle!? Or when you are copying/writing files to it for a longer period.

Your type of casefan may not travel far enough to reach that spot in a meaningfull manner at your chosen rpm.

In HWinfo your motherboard temps are usually a good indicator how cozy that ssd slot has it.

I consider this a good/average range:
1683251125944.png

If the Motherboard gets above 40 degree C you can count this as a valid indicator for a deadspot in your airflow (around your ssd spot).

An ssd cooler with heatpipes and/or a fan may have to be added.

With vhb tape you can slap a fan on everything, even missusing your aio underside to mount one
20230420_030151.jpg

One last thing:
The tinkerer in me asks if you can measure a difference in temps by only closing this gap?

EVO+ is kinda notorious for being hot, but it's still well within safety ~ I have what 3 or 4 one TB versions & they pretty much operate at the same temps especially the one right under/beside the 3080 :shadedshu:

Also it reports two temps, IIRC one is for SSD controller & the other for NAND.

The fan on the rad pulling air out ?, if so it be just sucking the air from the front fan of the case, be better to move the fan to the left were that other fan is at the top.

EDIT:
So move the rad to the left and were the rad was try with no fan there as it just going suck a lot of the top incoming air right back out.

the sticker, samsung hestsink is on, do i need to take it of, i have read people say you don't need to
When I was using that heatsink I kept the sticker on. You need some direct airflow on that heatsink for it to be more effective. A noctua 40mm fan pointing at it should knock temps down to 38c-45c and it will be really quiet even at high rpm, otherwise it becomes a heat trap. You can do a test with any pc fan and you should see a significant drop by standing one on your gpu and point the fan output to the heatsink.
