2020 Wishlist, Games, HARDWARE etc..

So 2020 has launched and we have had some paper and official releases or notifications of products coming down the line. Here is my Wishlist for 2020:


1. An affordable 4 TB SSD or NVME that will give uber performance with great storage.
2. A 7NM CPU for X399; I feel AMD has the ability to fill the HEDT space that exists for TR1 and 2 that only exists for X299 right now.
3. An affordable Intel or AMD card that rivals the 2080Ti.
4. A new GPU for less than $1000 that can do 8K at 60 FPS.
5. A sequel to Control and a sequel to Jedi Fallen Order.
6. More horizontal oriented MB cases that are affordable.
7. A nice case that supports 140MM for every fan position.
8. A X670 board with 50 to 60 PCI_E lanes available.
9. 10TB HDDs for less than $100.
10. TWWH3 with full crossfire support.

6. More horizontal oriented MB cases that are affordable.

? Wow! I can't recall seeing a request for "desktop" (horizontal) type cases in what must be 20 years - except for HTPC (home theater PC) cases. People have migrated to "tower" (vertical) cases because they take up less desk or floor real estate. I don't see that trend fading.

There are actually many horizontal cases out there but most are for ITX or µATX size motherboards. Are you looking for something that will support a full size ATX motherboard?

Exactly an update for my Core X9 that is not tempered glass all over the place and takes up a little less space.

Cube cases are a little more conservative than conventional desktop style cases, but still take up more room than tower cases. Plus, I note the X9 is designed to support E-ATX motherboards so that already makes them bigger than most other cubes and bigger than your current MSI motherboard needs.

If your heart is set on cube cases where the motherboard sits horizontally, I don't see new options coming available - unless you do decide to get a smaller board too.

I know exactly what you mean and that is why it is a wishlist item. I could probably find exactly what I am looking for from Caselabs or another variant but I don't want to pay more than I paid for my MB for a case. The Cooler Master HAF XB would fit the bill but I want full radiator support as well. If I was going to get a vertical case I would probably lean towards the Phanteks Luxe 2.

Anyway an 8K TV will set you back between $3,000 and $5,000 so that's a huge expense right now for early adopters.

As always Newegg entertains me with their silly offerings. Here's an 8K TV for $79,000 from one of their Market Vendors lol. When will Newegg learn to screen these vendors?

Well, TT does make smaller cube cases that support ATX boards though you won't save much on width, just a bit on depth.

Do you not want a windowed case at all? Initially, years ago, I didn't like windows on cases. But I insist on them now - though not because I like to gaze in awe at the innards of my builds. I'm more a practical type person so I like windows because it makes it so much easier to inspect the interior to make sure the fans are spinning and to check on dust build up without having to open the case.

That Phanteks is not exactly cheap and being a "full" tower makes it HUGE! A good mid tower will easily support all your drives, give you lots of fan and radiator options, and be easier to man-handle when lugging about. I like the Fractal Design R6.

That said, I can justify expanding the budget for more expensive case. A quality case will server you well through many years of evolving upgrades and total rebuilds. So to me, spending a pretty penny on a high-end case is a wise investment that pays off in the long run. The R6 fits that bill well too because it has such a smooth, conservative and classic design, it will never go out of style.

I actually bought the tempered glass Window for the Core X9 so yeah.
The R6 is a nice case but the reason I lean towards the Luxe 2 is it is tailor made for Water (I think the case even has a fill port) and can support 2 420MM rads.

I have had my Core X9 since 2016 so I agree with that sentiment of spending a little more and before that was the Raven 02 (I wish I had kept those 180Mm fans).

I didn't know that about the R6 and it is a nice case but it is expensive in Canada.

I really liked the design of the Enthoo Pro when I did a build for someone last year and I guess that is why the Luxe2 (719) has me piqued.

I like the design too. Too many cases today are getting to flashy and faddish for me. I look at this case, for example, and all I see is a million places for dust and dog hair to collect. Plus, I like to pay attention to what's happening on my monitors and not be distracted by a case which, IMO, should be sitting quietly and discreetly off to the side.

To each his own, I guess.

Here list is pretty much the same as it was for last few months as i do not rush with anything nor amd hasn't released yet something what i am waiting for.

-Top amd gpu 5800xt/5900xt/6800xt/6900xt or whatever they will decide to name it
-3x 4TB hdds
-2560x1440@144Hz IPS display, probably Aorus AD27QD but to be honest i would love to see something of such specification but 24 inches, anyone knows something like this?
-blu-ray drive
-maybe new soundcard but i'm happy with my x-fi titanium
-maybe second set of 32GB ram for running some games and other tasks off ramdisk

Overall i'm satisfied with my current specification and i enjoy using it for work and gaming and any other thing i do on it. Has amazing performance, works stable, is cool and fairly quiet.

Thinking really hard about getting two of those.
Then again, do I really need 144hz?
Out of competitive I play Sc2 and LoL.
Rest games I play are mainly rpgs etc.
No need for high refresh.

Only problem is that most Developers don't support SLI anymore. SLI and Crossfire have gone the way of the dinosaur.
And even back when SLI was well supported running Quad-SLI was a lot of trouble to get it working right.

Are you looking for a Blu Ray DVD drive? I am pretty sure I have one sitting around somewhere.

That X-Fi is considered one of the best sound cards ever period.

The Asus is also a great 27" IPS 144 or 165 Hz I can't remember

I hear you on the RAM disk. The drop in prices has actually made this feasible.

My brother and I we use it for main computer on our TV in each of our place. we just put the TV over the horizontal case. Nice to play older games on a 55 inches Samsung.
