personally i would go with a 24" over a 22".

However for yourself because it would take you twice the time to afford a 24" and the fact you only have a 7300 I would say go with the 22", the higher resolution on a 24" would stretch your card way too far.

Yeah it's good but IIyama has really excellent image quality and has HDMI connection.
Also has better contrast and is faster. 2ms vs 5ms.
I owned a IIyama screen and it was a great screen. Now i have a 22'' Asus. Also good but not great.

^^
MK is right btw. Need some serious power for such a big screen.

Yea you will probably want at least an 8800 gts(92) or x2 if your going with 24". 22" works fine for me and is much cheaper, but it depends on what your getting in the vc department.

With gaming and your video card, stay away from a 24" unless you can upgrade. 24" monitors (LCDs that is) typically run at 1920*1200 while 22"s run at 1680*1050. Basically, 24"s are the 1080P of 16:10 displays as they display 1080P resolution plus a little bit vertically.

As for monitor brands, the Samsungs are great. I have a 21.6" Samsung (216BW) and got it for just over $200 9 months ago and I'm glad I did. For gaming, look for a 5ms or lower monitor as well.

Off Newegg, I would recommend:

If your under 5ms, thats good. 2 is great, but honestly, you probably won't notice a difference. 5 v.s 8 and you will. Also anything over 1000:1 is fine, but just extra. Make sure you have 500 brightness (can't remember the unit).

even a 22" will stress the hell out of them.
unless he plans on getting a second matching card shortly thereafter, he should just leap and get a 3870 or higher(ati) or an 8800gt, gts(g92), or 9800gt(x) or higher(nvidia).

Big is better, but I do like my 22in...seems to be decent size for FPS games and lan parties.

Have you considered a CRT? They are superior to LCD when it comes to gaming since they are not confined to native resolutions and refresh rates. And they are somewhat cheaper since they are considered old tech. I picked up my 22" Diamondtron a year ago for $320. Samsung is a good brand no matter which you go with.
