Hello guys, i recently bought Asus Rog Strix gtx 1080 but i m in a dilemma now after having a stutter experience while fast sync is on. I play games like WoW, Dota 2, Doom 4, Need for Speed 2015... It wud be better to give my 1080 back and get 1070 + upgrade my i5 4690 to i7 6700k or it s better like this now ( 1080 + i5 4690) ? I saw that gaming wise there is so little difference between those CPU s i think but i wanted to get opinions, i be happy if u help me decide plz, thank you.

Your i5 should be plenty strong enough for a 1080. I'd try a fresh install of the drivers, using DDU to remove the original ones, before anything else.

You are only running in 1080p, so you wouldn't notice any difference by changing your part.
Does the stuttering happen all the time, or only when you are using the 3D mode of the monitor?

you could run it with turbo at 3,9 all time with asus multicore enhancement-dont know if h97 has it
ok found it:
To OC on the ASUS H97/B85/H81 motherboards, please do:
- Update to the latest BIOS build.
- Go into BIOS, and make CPU Turbo Ratio to All Core Mode.
- Set the CPU Turbo Ratio to the highest possible CPU Turbo Ratio.
- Done.

I don't own a GTX1080, but a GTX1070 with i5 6500 which is also a non-k CPU, I can leave the windows powerplan on "Balanced" and even then my gameplay is smooth.

Benchmark Scores well I've fried a 775' P4 12 years ago, that counts?
Your Haswell [Devils Canyon] Processor its pretty brave enough for all you may throw at it, gaming, work and some random stuff, so don’t screw your wallet with an unnecessary upgrade, also GTX 1070 its strong enough for the games you mentioned, so still pointless, the performance you will gain over your current processor its pretty ridiculous compared the price you will pay sir, also consider that you will need to replace:

**Motherboard:, will need 1151 socket board,
**Cooler: if you get the "K" Variant of processor, will need to get an aftermarket cooler cause it comes without one, if you get locked skylake processor it will come with a stock cooler,
**Ram Memory: skylake has a Built in memory controller for DDR4 but also some boards may support DDR3, but that option its not available for Z170 chipset which its used for gaming and overclock, it’s the most complete chipset also,
**Processor itself,: you will need to replace it obviously, the recommend upgrade or desired one always will be an "K" or unlocked variant, since their resale value is higher compared the locked ones, it allows the user to set higher clocks for more speed, overlock!

So if all these parts for upgrade seems "OK" for you and your wallet go ahead and upgrade all the hardware, but take in consideration that the performance you will gain its pretty ridiculous for a high price, its better to replace just your motherboard, or also to get even an Haswell [Devils Cabnyon] i7 for having more performance of power in that build…

what about your current cooling? you could also get better cooling, at least it will pretty nice to assemble and watch if your case has a big window…
