Hp Pavillion 23 all in one model #23-g125t. Came with win 7 pro, upgrade to win10. Comes only with USB ports. Bought a vga adapter, down load driver for adapter as requested by seller, installed restart, computer showed HP, win logo boot but screen stay black. Did system restore, uninstall driver and reload. Restart got same result boot but screen black. Delete driver, tried resetting BIOS. Nothing works . Was going to do system recovery, but refuse to do backup getting error. Have stuff on machine that i did not backup, plus no recovery disk for win 10. Download driver for vga from HP site, put in safe mode to install driver but said driver on computer currently is newer than one trying to install. Can i fix or do system recovery, losing all i have not backed up and win 10

Pull the drive and back it up on another machine. The do a recovery from the recovery partition

yes thats it. Though i saw win 10 somewhere in description. When ask seller about that he gave me site to download driver, which mess up my computer. Wondering if i will loose win 10 after recovery seeing that i did not make recovery disk. System came with win 7, recovery system have win 7

I read you have an A.I.O. so assumed you wanted to add an external card, but if you bought a USB to VGA cable that can't be the case.
Are you trying to use the output from the cable for a second screen, is there an issue with the built in screen?
In safe mode you may have to set the secondary screen as primary.

OP needs to explain Better what he is / was trying to do / achieve
His All in one is made from Laptop components
has no expansion slots for a discrete Graphics Card
it uses Intel HD4600 on Board Graphics
and may be a TouchScreen to complicate matters
