In little over an hour and half Bioshock Collection will be released. If you own Bioshock 1 and 2 and Minerva's Den on Steam you will receive them for free. Details here:

I also see Steam is now listing them for sale as well(at a reasonable too IMO) I actually recently started Bioshock again and was VSR'ing it to 4K and it still looked pretty good so I am looking forward to see what they have done. I will happily start over again with the new one.

and Remastered Minerva's Den DLC. I will definitely DL these as I really like Bioshock 1 and 2 and replay them every couple of years. To me Bioshock 1 is a solid classic.

I'm going to actually play the original Bioshock and play it all the way through for the first time. Started several times and never made it, with the last time getting the furthest but still not making it. This will be a good reason to retry.

Then this might be perfect timing. The intro alone is one of the best I have ever seen for mood and visuals I can't wait to see it again!

Minerva's Den is a lot of fun but of course fairly short. For whatever reason on Steam sales they usually put the full game Bioshock 2 on a good sale sometimes cheaper than Minerva's Den but Minerva's Den stays regular price at $10. I finally couldn't wait any longer for it to go on sale and bought it a while back. For me it was well worth the $10 and I'm glad I did buy it even at full price but I do replay Bioshock 1 and 2 every couple of years and plan to replay Minerva's Den so it's worth every penny to me.

FOV slider is by far too small and you need to hack the game to increase it. I bet they didn't bother fixing this for the remaster. And while remasters are still downloading, I bet they don't have huge FOV span either, if at all...

Well they did add a "FOV switch" but no actual adjustment. But it has all the same issues the original outside of that...I was a bit disappointed TBH..

I quite liked Bioshock 2. Not sure why people hate it. I like it when games approach the story from other perspective within same universe. Similar to Half-Life and how they tackled perspective of scientist, security guard and marine. Playing as big daddy was interesting for me.

I remember buying Minerva's Den on Games for Windows Live Marketplace (like the only thing I bought on GFWL). Apparently I got it on Steam too at some point because both Remastereds and Minerva's Den is in my Steam library. Not that I'm ever going to play them again. Didn't really care for Bioshock, Bioshock 2, nor Bioshock Infinity.

It's a good game actually. If you care about System Shock-ish or Deus Ex-ish gameplay style. The first two even more because the underwater setups were hardly ever used. Seeing whole city slowly getting crushed under pressure of the ocean was oddly satisfying. Especially because the water was done really nicely.

I love the Bioshock universe so this is an awesome treat.

It makes me laugh seeing the complaints on the steam forums. I have a crappy old 1Gb Card, a dual core processor from 2010 and 4gb of slow ram. Apart from Vram loading stutter every now and again it looks and plays great. @1080p The physics look so much better running at a higher framerate. I have zero mouse sensitivity issues or acceleration problems with a shocking wireless mouse (setpoint turned on) The FOV is fine and there's now no sound issues to deal with plus it has the cheevos for a bit of extra fun. I'd already seen the museum and stuff from the 360 collectors edition.

A very nice gesture from the company to provide the remasters free and with time I'm sure any issues anyone is having will be fixed. So little patience in so many gamers these days, enjoy your beast rigs.....I know I will when I get the funds to get one.

All in all it looks fantastic (the water does look worse though if I'm honest ) .

Nothing more to say, if you can't see the differences you need to take a gun and pull the trigger. People on Steam forums saying it looks worse or no better... i mean they either played the original so long a go they are wearing rose tinted glasses, or they are blind.

Engine is now on DX11, better lighting, proper AA and no shimmering.
Massively improved textures and things seem to be higher poly too.

1920x1080 @ 75hz with Vsync.

Scrolled through one more time for Bioshock, and Bioshock 2. Bioshock 2 only shows for up to D3DDrv10.D3DRenderDevice10 however Bioshock shows this entry "D3DDrv11.D3DRenderDevice11." I also see some settings turned off or turned down to medium (shadows.)

The AA is still a bit wonky, you can even see it in the screenshots above. Is there a way to bump it to 4X or 8X with the ini file?
