Hello everyone,my last PC upgrade was almost 5 years ago (except GPU + PSU which I bought 10 months ago). So now I'm interested if there would be any sense if I upgrade to something new,for e.g:
Z170 board
6600 or 6700k
ddr4 RAM

My PC is in my signature,I don't do editing or rendering, just gaming and full HD movie watching. I have 60Hz monitor and getting 60-100fps in games with no problem (sometimes just tweaking anti-aliasing settings for smooth fps)

I suspect there is no need in upgrading now, since I have 60Hz monitor, but I just have these inexplicable feeling to upgrade once in several years, but if there would be NO noticeable change, than I'll just wait for some new techs to show up....

Thanks everyone in advance :)

P.S Maybe first upgrading to 4K monitor and afterwards upgrading other tech ? (including GPU)....

a 6600k wouldn't be enough of an upgrade to me. its not significantly faster than a 3570k. you should be able to do some easy light overclocking with what you have already if you're looking for a little more speed.

the i7 7700k should be shipping soon as well as the zen stuff. so i'd hold out a little longer.

I've got at 3570k and a 4970k system, my take... the 4970k has to be one of intels finest enthusiast chips to date. DDR4 will help with an upgrade to a 6x series, but not a huge amount.

Would be there any sense if I upgrade to ddr4 (cpu, ram, mobo) + gtx 1070 for full hd gaming ? Or it's better (but much pricier) to make further step and upgrade to 4K TV and gtx 1080?

If you have money burning in your pocket then a better video card will help, but you would need atleast a 1070 to get a large enough boost to justify it. I would wait for the next round of hardware to come out.

Is your CPU overclocked?

Aye this. At least wait for Zen/whatever Intel is up with and see what Vega's all about.

+1...In my opinion it would be a bad idea to do an upgrade now especially when your system is still really good for 1080p gaming. Wait for Zen/Kaby Lake and Vega GPU's :)

to be honest a 3770k would be more of an upgrade due to how well it clocked (many saw 4.8-5GHZ) and you don't have to change memory or motherboards for that one. Though you could upgrade the mem to a 16GB kit if you wanted for more longevity.

That base platform should last you several more years for very little money. Then you could save whatever you would have spent on z170 and toss it towards a new gpu either now or a year from now.

Your best upgrades now would be a beastly cooler (240mm aio recommended) so you can run that i5 comfortably at 4.3-4.5GHz. That will be sufficient to remove most CPU induced bottlenecks.

Bring up your RAM to at least 16GB. What ever money is still left burning in your pocket, dump it into the best GPU you buy. In the next upgrade, you can up the CPU and platform but keep the beastly GPU for a while.

Summing up all the comments above,I understand that 4K gaming at THIS moment is kinda early bird + really pricey,so better investing in 1080p I assume?

With my suggestion, you will be able to do 4K down sampling on your 1080p screen for superior image quality until you afford a decent 4k display.

Nothing needs to be done to your computer. The only thing I can think of is a 144Hz monitor to enhance immersion.

144Hz 1440p > 60Hz 4K
