Ok so I downloaded halo 5 forge over a month ago but it would always crash at the halo splash screen.

I spent some time trying to fix it with no luck and gave up on when i picked up the new deus ex.

A new patch for it was released yesterday so i re downloaded the game and tried playing it after the new patch to see if that would fix it but its still crashing.

I did some more research and it has something to do with sse 4.1, but according to the spec sheet for my cpu it supports sse 4.1 but from what i read it wont run on core 2 quads which is the same family my xeons are based on.

So is there a way to emulate or by pass sse 4.1?

I know my cpus are old and next year i plan on doing a new build but i would still like to play halo 5 and my current system and i can run every other current 2016 game such as doom, dark souls 3, homefront revolution and deus ex mankind divided without issue, granted i cant max them out but i can still play them with good performance and image quality.

The Kentsfield core 2 quad doesnt have SSE4.1 but yours is the newer Harpertown which does have SSE4.1

Thanks for the reply and i knew it did according to the spec sheets for it i read on google.

But I read on some forums for halo 5 the crash is due to lack of sse 4.1 support.

I dont recieve any error message though when the game crashes though.

I have tried everything i can think of to get the game to work other than reinstall windows. Every other game works perfectly fine though.

Ok so are you getting the SSE4.1 error from the game? Or is the game just crashing?

I've been googling and cant find any people that actually crash from using an older non SSE4.1 CPU, instead the game fails to start and gives them an error code.

Seems like most crashes at splash screen is from Nvidia drivers. Have you tried removing the drivers and reinstalling current ones?

My brother and friend both have Phenom II X6's and can't play it either because of the lack of SSE on their CPSs. It's a sad story, I haven't read anything on any patch to fix it.

Files would need to be modified. I had to do it to get COD 4 running on an AthlonXP

Game loads up to the halo splash screen, sits at that screen for a moment then just closes itself out like its crashed.

There is no error code though. It just goes back to the halo app. And I am running the latest drivers for my video card from October and I was having the same problem when I had the driver's from September as well.

Would you happen to have an idea on how I might be able to do that?

I would greatly appreciate it.
