What all do you need? Just the tower? Do you need a monitor? Do you need Windows? Do you need a keyboard and mouse?

Put almost half the budget into graphics card. Processors and motherboards, and everything else are cheaper to upgrade later.

If you skip the mechanical drive, buy a single 8 gig stick (42.99) (for upgrade later with an additional) and go with a z170 board from gigabyte that isn't as feature rich from newegg (94.99) and then add a gigabyte or zotac gtx 1070 for 379.99 you come out at 906 and change.

As an alternative, you get more gpu power in the short term, and some upgrades you can make as and when you need them, 8 gigs in the short term and no mass storage but both will put this into the 1000 dollar range if included.

Put almost half the budget into graphics card. Processors and motherboards, and everything else are cheaper to upgrade later.
But GPUs become outdated sooner than any other component- mobo is the component that will limit upgrades more than any other.

Obviously I would agree that the GPU is a vital component for a gaming PC.

You basically cripple the machine at that point. 240GB is not enough for a gaming computer, unless you only have like 2 games installed. My Steam library alone is almost 300GB 500GB...

And don't buy anything from Gigabyte, the quality is crap and their customer service is by far the worst in the industry.

The superb MSI GTX 1060 6GB is available from Newegg for $240 after a $15 MIR.
Corsair CX 430 available for $16 after a $20 MIR

The GTX1060 6GB I put in my build is already $240 without a rebate and isn't really going to be any worse than the MSI card.

And I wouldn't trust any build with a good dedicated GPU with the CX430. The CX430 is a good basic power supply, but I just can't bring myself to put a sub-$20 PSU in a system with a $200+ GPU.

Regards,

I buy from here:
https://azerty.nl/
One of the shops that sells hardware at a reasonable price in my country, here I think $900 won't buy you that rig.

Anyways I will stop about that now.:)

Since I don't know where you are from, here is one such configuration based on the most appealing prices in the EU.

It's a decent gaming configuration for 831€ (880$) without shipping. With shipping (within the EU) that would be ~850€ (900$).

About 50 bucks over budget, but probably could opt for cheaper case and PSU to make it fit:

The thread has pretty good builds so far... my 2 cents would be to make sure you spend a little more into the graph card, which most have done ! good luck

Depends on one thing really: Does he want to overclock?

That is the biggest variable in the whole build to be honest... that single question. If he doesn't plan to OC, you can opt for cheaper motherboard, cheaper RAM and there is no point buying anything above an i5-6500 at the moment if you ask me, since 95% of new AAA titles are GPU limited.

One can cram a lot of stuff into that 900USDish budget if you know what you are aiming for. You can go 6600K+ Z170 + 16GB RAM + GTX1070, if you ditch the SSD and go for a cheaper case.

You can also go H110 cheapobo mobo route if you don't plan on getting another pair of RAM in the future or M.2 SSDs.

Since he has no idea what he wants (which is totally fine, hence him asking) lets assume he aint overclocking..so, yeah the cheaper mobo/case/cpu combo is a good idea...hence me saying a little more on the graph wouldnt hurt.
