Gigabyte shows of USB 3.1 board connector

Another day, another sneak peek at a new board, this time very little of the board is show, but it seems like a standardised USB 3.1 board connector/header is here and it beats the USB 3.0 one by a mile. Doesn't look like we'll have problems with connectors falling out any more, but it looks more expensive.

Isn't 3.1 quite the novelty on mainboards. It was supposed to take off in 2016 and yet...where are they?

Huh? Almost all Z170 boards has it, but as it requires a third party chipset, either from ASMedia or Intel (in this case their Thunderbolt chips) it's not a cheap addition. In fact, it's more costly than USB 3.0 was at the time it arrived a few years ago.
I'm guessing more Z270 boards will have it and obviously some H270 board and what not.

Titanium board, reinforced everything, and LED's, to me that spells expensive top of the line.
