In another addition to their gaming mice product range, Logitech has gone and left behind the complex, sometimes overly contoured designs of recent gaming mice in developing their new G203 Prodigy. The G203 does present a design that is closer to a neutral one, with no particular ergonomics considerations for either a left-handed or right-handed person (save for the pair of left-side thumb buttons). This thus increases the overall number of users whose natural hand posture may allow them to use this gaming mouse with more comfort, though it does mean the mouse makes some sacrifices in overall ergonomics.

Logitech is one of the few companies whose products tend to be vertically integrated, with Logitech developing its product designs, optical or laser sensors and other components in-house. This has translated into a prodigy of a gaming mouse based on one of the company's in-house-developed sensors with on-the-fly adjustable resolution (200-6000 DPI). The G203 also leverages an ARM processor which supports a USB report rate of up to 1000 Hz. The different buttons (as well as the RGB lighting, though it's more subdued and clean looking in this model than in other mice we've seen recently) on the G203 can be reprogrammed using Logitech's software suite, with button configuration being stored in the mouse and not on the PC.

IMpressive regarding the Logitech G203 Prodigy is its price: the company sells it for $39.99 in the U.S. and for €44.99 in the E.U., which does put it in a very positive light regarding some of its competitors.

I don't understand why not a single mice vendor makes mouse bottom side dramatically raised from the gliding feet level. I'm using Goliathus mouse pad which is soft and all my mice keep on grinding with the belly on the pad surface. Sensor can be where it is because height matters, but the rest of the belly should be raised by 2-3mm. So that nothing of the mouse grinds against the pad.

Depending on the sensor used, the mouse wouldnt work. Most competitive mice with optical pmw3310 and 3360 sensors have what is called 1 "dvd" lift off distance where at and after 1 dvd height from the pad it stops tracking. Dvds are about 1-2mm thick. Check out Rocket Jump Ninja's mice reviews on youtube and youll see what i mean.

Edit: i guess its not a pixart sensor like other logitech mice, but my point still stands.

It's basically going to be the US version of the G102 from Asia which is a cheaper version of the G Pro. Here's the link to the sensor tests http://www.overclock.net/t/1615853/g102-mercury-sensor-info

EDIT: I forgot OP said it already had an in house sensor, but go check out the tests, it seems like the sensor isn't too bad.

I've said everything that isn't a sensor or a glide pad should be lifted a lot more. And yet NO one does this. And all of the mice I've tried grind with entire belly on the surface of the mouse mat. It's especially bad with my G502 which has a textured belly.

I mean this mouse shouldn't have that problem since the only things that are making contact with the pad are the mouse feet. The rest of the bottom stays just above and doesn't touch anything else :)

My Steelseries Rival 300 doesn't grind at all, and it is extremely quite on my corsair cloth pad.

Your mouse pad is too thick and too soft it's flexing and creating an uneven surface to track on. Mice now of days are made to track on a hard flat surface the era of ball mouse styled mouse pads should have died out but people still use and design them like that. The funny part is some of those are "gaming surfaces".

Well even so, it shouldn't even be problem with that mouse pad since I've tried it myself and it's nice to use. The G502 just has that inherent problem of textured plastic on the bottom. RejZoR could probably grab thicker mouse feet and see how that works out.

I've had that issue with my old 502 as well. I switched to the Pro during the xmas sales and find that it doesn't suffer from this problem. I used to use steel series pads but they wear out too fast and am now using ikross g70 pad, a knock on amazon. This pad is like the steelseries but firmer.

What I found that I usually wear out cloth pads relatively fast sadly. I'm currently on a HyperX Skyn stuck on my desk. Doesn't move about, it won't unravel at the edges and it is easy to clean. Been on my desk two years now and still going strong.

I've had G3 before and it had the same issue. Belly grinding on the mouse mat.

Never had that issue using SS soft mats and G3.

Maybe applying too much force because your excited during game play. Probably why the stiffer mat worked.

The only way i get that effect is if i concentrate force on the mouse / try'n to grind it into the pad.

Had no luck with that either, although one might argue that I didn't exactly buy the highest possible quality from those.

Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 masterrace suffer not those things, also with my rubber-with-cloth mousepad from the 90's.

I like this mouse actually. I fear it might be a bit too small, but those features are nice, for that price. When/if my Intellimouse Explorer dies and I can't find a new one for decent money I might take a look at this.
