Okay so this is my third ASUS STRIX RX 480 now and I'm having problems yet again, but it's not as bad this time. The card has been working fine as long as I ramp up the fan speeds but now every once and awhile I've had my screen freeze to a random color while gaming (pink and brown). Is this another problem with the card or something else in my system?

EDIT: I just installed the latest drivers, I don't know if that'll do anything though.

if its really the 3rd new card(always check you serial number) you are good to think of other probs.
very rare to get 3 cards with problems.

did you change the processor or is this a asus branded complete pc?
if yes they have normally motherboards you cannot buy in shop.-is there a bios update maybe for your motherboard?

cheapest first thing to change would be the vga cable or ya have old graphiccard to test?

3 cards and the same issue, I would think it is not the cards but your system. I was experiencing colorful lock ups like you on my second AM1 rig. My ram has 2 XPM profiles, one @ 1.35v and one @ 1.5v. The 1.35v was the issue. I bumped it to the 1.5v profile and no more issues. Give that a look on your rig.

I have random grey screen crashes if i just use the AMD Drivers and leave everything on default and it seems to me its down the my fans not kicking in and the gpu is overheating, since using sapphire trixx and setting a custom fan curve my issue has pretty much gone away.

I would try setting a custom fan curve in a diff program to see if it helps rather than using the amd driver settings.

If the problem still persist i would send the card back and maybe go for a diff brand because it does seem like the card you have might have issues overall seeing as its the 3rd one now.

This was an asus branded complete that I've been slowly trying to build off of. I've used an old GTX 650 ti and that has never given me problems whenever it's in my pc. For the bios, I'll check if there's an update for mine. Also the problems that popped up with the same card were for other reasons that didn't involve this kinda problem, sorry if I didn't specify. First card was returned due to extremely bad coil whine, next was a really bad card that didn't even allow me to install display drivers without spazing the screen out with artifacts and crashing.

I'd buy from a different carrier ( where you bought from) or switch To Sapphire, XFX, HIS, powercolor, Visiontek, MSI. Club3d.

But the thing is, is that I've ran Unigine Valley over and over again and I can't reproduce the problem no matter how hard I try. The card seems stable as of right now.

I don't know how firestrike is compared to Time Spy but I ran the demo test and it got through it without any visual anomalies. It might've been a bit laggy since my computer is decent at best but it got through. Looks pretty though, I'll admit.

This may seem a little late but I did run OCCT for an hour on error check mode and nothing was found. I'll probably return the card to be safe now but I'm still confused as to whether this card is actually stable or not.

Isn't Valley CPU intensive?
Run Heaven instead.

Downloaded it and ran it, looks fine on my end? Anything small that I should be looking for?

If it appears fine under load then it must be a cooling problem when the fans are running slower.

could be the cards voltages are too low for the gpu or ram

I'll pump up the voltages on ASUS's program since Afterburner locks me out of it. What should I bump it up to?

Small increments till it stops. You don't want to rush voltage up too quickly. It helps reduce heat too.
