Intel WiFI/BT for desktop

In the past, I've used Intel's Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth* for Desktop. I'm in the process of building another system and found it hard to locate that part. Investigating that part showed that it's from 2013 and that there are newer models available, such as the AC-8200 series. I bought the following but can not get the connectors to connect. BTW, I really wanted the AC-8265, but I went with the AC-8260 because I thought it might be more compatible.

Are you saying the wires are too short on the adapter, or you cannot seem to connect the round clips to the end of the card?

Try a dab of Dielectric grease on the post.

Sometimes those clips can be tough to connect. AFAIK, there is only one size, so there shouldn't be a compatibility issue.

That's now ~$80 with shipping. I think they were ~$43. I didn't say I couldn't find them, just that they're getting a little outdated.

My near eyesight has gotten really bad in recent years, so I don't completely trust myself to put more pressure on them. To me, the connectors on the card and the adapter look the same, both having a post in the center.

Grab a magnifying glass if you must.... I know at times I have had to start these connections with needle nosed pliers in the past.
Just be careful not to break anything, but center the male clip on the female, and press down hard. It should eventually give in and make the connection.

I had tried 2-3 times before. I squeezed till my fingers hurt. I pushed with my thumbnail until it bent over. I laid it flat and used tools to try to press them together. I tried the NN pliers. Nothing. So I got 2 pairs of my glasses together and was just looking at how they line up and it almost fell on. Both connectors. Just weird. EDIT: I'm normally good at these kinds of things, not the get a bigger hammer kind of guy.
I'll come back latter to let you'll know if it works.

It works. Downloaded the software for the NIC and BT from Intel and everything seems to be working. Haven't tried the BT yet.

I don't know how I missed it. Asus has these in kit form.
