How do you clean your monitor screen?

With my older LG 1080p screen I always cleaned it with "special" monitor cleaner but I have noticed it always leaves smudges on it, ok you don't see it when it's on much , but you do when there is something black on it and when it's off.

My new monitor is still pretty spotless and I'd like to keep it this way but not sure when I need to clean it if I use the same cleaner for it since it isn't that good afterall.

I hate smudges on my monitors!!! :banghead:

What do you use?
Or what stuff do you recommend cleaning a monitor with which leaves no smudges.

Smear my finger over the drool/food that landed on the screen and make a smudge
use a microfiber cloth + some random cleaning spray bottle i bought dirt cheap once there are too many smudges.

its more about using a lint-free, non scratch cloth than the cleaning liquid - even just a slightly (and i do mean SLIGHTLY) damp microfiber cloth will get the job done.

I put a bit of spit on my finger, then wipe it off with a bit of tissue paper. This is only for little smudges and bits stuck to the screen of course.

Back to basics, I love it

Same here, works fine. Or just breathe heavily over the screen and use a microfiber cloth. Has done the work for over 20 years now

Lol, I won't do that, it's the spit spots in time I need to get that off...

I will buy some new more suitable cloth then, using the same "monitor cleanser".

New clean microfiber clothe and just a little water, to dampen the screen.
I found that most cleaners, I have tried, leave streaks or smudges.

oh yeah and most TV's and monitors come with instructions on method of cleaning for their product.

This is a copy and paste from my Asus laptop manual.

This is a copy and paste from my LG 50" 50PK550 manual

" When cleaning, unplug the power cord and scrub gently with a soft cloth to prevent scratching. Do not spray water or other liquids directly on the TV as electric shock may occur. Do not clean with chemicals such as alcohol, thinners or benzene."

I remember back in the day when LCD first came out and they advised DO NOT USE AMMONIA OR ALCOHOL as it would put a fog type finish to the LCD.
