are my Temps okay ***worried***

I assembled a gaming rig 2 years ago. Today I was gaming for about 3 hours and noted quite a bit of heat coming. I checked the temps using Cupid hwmonitor and here are the results. Cpu is Intel core i5 4690k. Gpu is Msi r9 390. Case is corsair 450d. Do I need to change thermal paste on cpu or add any fans. Thanks for all the help guys!

Those temps are a bit high yes but still ok though...

Nothing alarming about those temperatures, a bit of cleaning out dust build up might help though before changing the TIM (Thermal Interface Material.)

your cpu temp is great. the gpu looks like it could use a good dusting and a custom fan profile. Nothing alarming and everything is within its limits. i suggest you clean all dust and check temps again. also let us know the room temp.

I forgot to mention I play graphic intensive games. Mostly AAA titles.

I live in canada so temperatures are fine.
I do not have a fan profile set and I don't know how to lol.

Install MSI Afterburner and look in the settings for "Fan" and change the curve manually.

his fan profile is a little weird. use something like this:



before you mess with fan profile try cleaning out your gpu. your temps weren't really that bad and it probably just needs a good cleaning. after cleaning it they should be in the low 80s. the r9 390 normally runs a little warm. if you still feel like your temps are to high than try the fan profile. if that does not help try replacing the tim.

the cpu temps are fine.. after a couple of years use there must be fair dust build up on the gpu cooling fins which would explain the gpu running a bit on the hot side..

about the pc, specs are fine, quite great hardware, but, how often do you clean the PC? dust and filthiness attack hardware 24/7, so computers should have some maintenance, like dusting the hardware out, clean fans and pretty important sometimes: repaste GPU and processor, i do cleaning every 3 or 5 months, or at least twice a year, and repaste my processor and GPU every December...

I would ramp that gpu fan a little harder tho
for longevity I don't like to see TSMC 28nm cards above 75c sustained

at 85 C it should be running flat out anyways.. most default fan prifoles will try and stay below that.. if there is too much dust in there the fan will be losing the battle..

intel seem happy with their cpus at up to 100 C.. at that point they will throttle down.. there must be loads of intel cpus running way hotter the 70 C.. the majority i would say..

in the warm summer weather mine hits over 80 C at 4.6 gig.. it was hitting 95 C until i slowed it down a bit..

the IntelProcessor Diagnostic Tool 64bit is happy with 95 C.. so even though i aint over keen on it getting up there i must assume it wont do it any harm..

a de-lid would bring it down some but i cant be arsed.. he he..

Thermals still depend on ambient/room temperature besides dust control and unrestricted airflow, if you are pumping hot air in, that just makes it run hotter.

a gpu based on TSMC 28nm such as the 7xx though the 3xx WILL last a lot longer if its kept under 75c

in my experience any AMD gpu based on TSMC 28nm is good for about 3 or 4 years depending on the work load and AVERAGE sustained temperatures the hotter they run(sustained) the shorter the life span

that thought occurred to me a while back.. until i pointed a heat gun at the back of the motherboard and found it was close to case ambient.. i can only speak for my own system but very little heat makes it way into the cpu socket.. its all taken away by the cooler..

my gpus on the other hand heat the entire card up.. the backplate on my cards run close to the chip tempt.. it takes a while to heat up and a while to cool down.. the cpu goes up and down in seconds..

It was ryzen blender on my rig that slammed the thermals so high that it made me start looking up a hsf for back of mine, sure enough plenty of those mods have occurred. Also I can't go further than 5.0, 5.1+ is a mess and require wc.

Hold your horses, we still dont know if the op has at least cleaned its computer, dust might be the#1 reason the OP is having such temps, so let him tell moar about the scenario he have there, we still know nothing about this rig.

Thanks again to you all for willing to help me. I was playing and about a hour in my screen turned black and no sound. Luckily I was able to alt clt delete and restart. (don't know if it hppnd due to temps). I immediately went to cleaning it with compressed air. I will tell you what happens.

Edit: here are the results after cleaning. What do you think? Should I still set a fan profile,? For those asking. I already have a after market cooler installed and a case fan to exhaust hot air coming out of the heatsink

personally i would make a custom profile. i do this with all my cards i buy.
