should I disable HT? Iracing only optimizes 2 cores, one for physics and the rest of stuff on core 2. i was told to disable HT and should help? but when i disable it I did Cinabench and got half the score

It depends on the game.
Try either way and use what works better.
There is no downside of having more cores regardless of how many the game can use.
But a lot of times especially in gaming its too difficult to hyper-thread so you can loose performance having it enabled.

Just because your game or other program may not take advantage of HT, Windows sure does. And if your OS can complete its tasks faster, that frees up resources for your games and other programs.

I say, leave defaults alone.

That's because of the way the OS/programs handle multi threading. Most software dose not differentiate between cores and hardware threads. If the game uses just 2 threads then it would make no difference whatsoever if you had HT on or off. However most new games do make use of more threads and HT dose provide some performance boost. Just leave it on regardless of what you do.

if your Specs are current, id say that No cores are being used for PhysX assuming you have Nvidia control panel set to Handle PhysX on the 1070 listed in Your specs ofc. if its not set to run on the 1070, id set it to do so.

PhysX has nothing to do with this thread. None of the games mentioned use PhysX. Don't confuse PhysX with physics. All modern 3D games have a physic engine, PhysX is just one specific physics engine that only some games use. PhysX does not accelerate or handle the physic in all games. If a game isn't using the PhysX physics engine, then Physx and the settings related to it mean nothing and are not applied at all.

Hyperthreading is awesome, leave it on fam. It's basically extra free cores, anything in the background will benefit.

Im not confusing physics with physX, i just thought the op meant physX.

You assumed the op confused physics with physx, I assumed you confused physics with physx. It seems the circle is complete!:toast:

For gaming, only the i3 chips have consistently better performance with HT on. A lot of synthetic benches will show better performance with it on regardless of CPU model though.

Always ON. I never cared with Core i7 920 and still don't with 5820K. The tests where HT has some penalty is so tiny that it doesn't even matter. But you benefit it everywhere else. Gonna switch all the time in BIOS? No point imo.
