Corsair decided to enter the gaming chairs market, and their first attempt is the T1 Race chair. It definitely isn't a high-end product and targets gamers who don't want or simply cannot spend a fortune on a decent chair. PU leather is used to keep its cost down, and there are five different color combinations to choose from.

It makes me sad to see 350 dollar chairs made out of plastic and fake leather.

I've got a fake leather chair right now and I can tell you from experience that within a couple of years, the top layer will be degraded and you'll be scraping tiny bits of 'leather' off the chair, and the more you move around in it, the faster that'll happen.

Never, ever again PU leather. And at this price point... wtf.

Nice to see a bigger company like Corsair get into the chair market. Hopefully others will follow suit and prices will come down some on average. A very good chair for <$400 would be ideal.

Let me think - a budget chinese nongaming chair? Yeah those are awful. When it comes to gaming chairs most companies use better quality PU. If a gaming chair exhibited this behaviour it would be all over the internet. I have some friends who have owned DX Racer chairs for years and the PU has withstood quite a lot of sitting without breaking down.

expected them to use memory foams wrapped in breathable microfiber cloth for better endurance & comfort... but I'm not expecting much from a gaming chair. Seriously thou, use of faux leather is too much despite as a mean to keep the cost down. =w= $350 asking price is a little too high for this sort of chair but at least it's cheaper than other "premium" gaming chair brands out there.

If a gaming chair exhibited this behaviour it would be all over the internet. I have some friends who have owned DX Racer chairs for years and the PU has withstood quite a lot of sitting without breaking down.

Hmhm, yeah, no. PU leather simply has this 'quality' to it, at some point its been bent too often, a crack starts somewhere, and then the top layer just comes off. It happens, its the way this stuff 'wears' down. Therefore any comparison with real leather, for me, is totally off. You may be convinced otherwise and that is fine, but until we have a system in place to grade these PU leathers by quality, I'm not. The fact still is you're looking at a machined product versus a natural one, and the natural one actually responds well to regular and specific ways to care for it. With PU, you're just postponing the inevitable.

And again, at this price point, a sheet of true leather for at least the seating area is the very, very least I'd expect. I can go to any business/office store and get me a high quality, ergonomic desk chair with materials that last ten times longer for, if I get lucky on a sale, probably half the price. Which is obviously what I'm going to do soon ^^

yeah this may be a nice chair for some but NO WAY would I procure this for myself because of the inferior design build (PU and them way too easy to roll wheels that are made for rollerblades). Big pass for me on this one.

Actually I'm thinking of replacing my castors for those wheels. Standard plastic castors are killing my wood floor. Those are the "new school" wheels to have.
As for PU, my "gaming chair"(standard racing bucket style, no name) is doing exactly what Vayra describes. Now granted it's 10 years old now at least (well before this whole gaming chair thing was a thing)it's peelin and cracking in all the "wear spots" even at the top of the headrest area where I push it in has cracked up.

Thanks for the review. Now I know why some guys in CSGO can 1-shot me that easily. It's definitely the gaming chair. /s
