Decent 17" i7 laptop under $1000

I'm moving to Winnipeg, Canada soon and don't know if I should buy a strong laptop for just wait till I get to Canada and build a new desktop. Is it easy to buy pc components in Canada/Winnipeg or through newegg/amazon?

If I do go with a laptop, I will mainly use it for movies, youtube, occasional gaming like Diablo 3, League of Legends and new RTS games.

What I look for in laptop:

-17" screen
-SSD for OS
-Price cheaper is better. I'm on a budget and hasn't been following the market for sometime so I'm not sure if what I listed above is overkill
-Decent gpu

If desktop is an option go with desktop because it's going to be cheaper for the same performance

I would avoid any I7 that ends in U as them dual core processors run HOT under load, I would opt for a 4 core I5 before any U ending Processor! Good luck!
