Memory prices are finally back in a reasonable range, and there is no shortage of affordable high-performance DDR4 kits to choose from. That's why Mushkin went old school with the new Redline DDR4 3200 MHz kit. A bright red heat spreader and eye catching profile combined with a reasonable price tag make the Mushkin Redline a great choice for the RGB LED averse that still want a little spice in their build.

Mushkin is back baby!! Woooooooooo!

Avant Technology finally decided to do something with the brand after buying them in 2013 and shoving them in their closet.

::EDIT::

Though i wonder if they are back for real or just clearing out the old stock from their warehouse. Hence the oldschool styled heatsinks.

Mushkin Redline.

No matter the timings...will always be my default favorite memory. Period. End.

I can still remember the day I clicked in four sticks of DDR2 Redline into the memory slots of my brand new Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P.

Stepping back...taking a look at my handiwork...It will be one of those memories I take to the grave.

To me...that is golden. There is nothing in this world(of any value) that can replace that memory....

Mushkin Redline DDR2 was be first kit i bought, it had a freaking Woodbox to be protect them ^^ and was a beast overclocker and always stable AF!
Also really price minded, i think it might had the same price as that 2x8GB kit for a 2x2GBs....
Thanks for the review sound they trying to kickback in the game :) great new :D

My DDR3 set came in an aluminum box :D . I can't find the box but the kit is still in use 10 years down the road.

No RGB as a thumbs down made me chuckle.

I used to have 12GB (3x4GB) of Mushkin Redline in my old i7-950 system.

Wonder if they moved away from using re-branded Micron ICs that did not pass muster for Crucial like they used in earlier kits of DDR4. The initial testing results seem to show that they haven't. :(

I haven't seen any good Mushkins since DDR2. Mushkin is on the market without breaks but hard to call them interesting for a long time. Because of that many users thought they disappeared for good. The competition is beating them for years in price, design and overclocking potential.
My last Mushkin review, in short, was also something like good at stock and nothing else. It's a bit sad as I used to like this brand years ago.

Wow, Mushkin. That is a name i haven't heard in a long time.

I think last time I remember Mushkin or using them was back when Linus was still with NCIX (and that it was a thing), Mushkin Greg was a sponsor on the forums and I would complain about my dead Mushkin DDR2 ram stick (mostly to pull his leg).

Replacement sticks I got though, man they were solid.

I had no idea they were bought out.

I always found no matter the system, that Mushkin always just worked. Limited overclocking potential never bothered me. Compatibility in every system I ever put them in was key. And that is with most of their models never being on vendor QVL lists. I’ve never had that kind of compatibility with any other brand.

It would be nice if you showed a thaiphoon burner screenshot - so we know what type of chips are used. The other reviewer on TPU does it and it makes it easy to know what to expect from the kit.

There is one, but it doesn't really have any chip IDs...

I would venture a guess that these are 8Gb AFR, or maybe 8Gb rev D. Rather hard to tell though, could be anything really. The OCing characteristics aren't particularly descriptive either...

Honest question: why is everybody welcoming back Mushkin? Where have they been? Mushkin memory has always popped up when I looked for RAM sticks.

Yup. Added after the fact.

Also, overclocking memory is more than just pushing up the frequency. What about lowering the CAS latency or command rate?

I don't wan't to promise anything before it actually happens, this is on my list for the next testing update. (which I am working on now)

Same as above, this is going to be part of Ryzen testing.

For decades, Mushkin was the enthusiasts choice. When looking for OC suggestions for DDR3, when folks were exclaiming everything above 1.50 was death (despite 1.65 being the standard XMP voltage, (mine are at 1.71 for 6 years now), there were folks out there doing 1.94

I do see RGB as a thumbs down .... I often spend as much as 3 weeks doing a build and the last thing I want is a bunch of flashie lightie thingies pulling my eyes away from my efforts. And if the manufacturer has to decide between hgat sink design or RGB to hit the desired proce point, I'll taje the heat sink. As to the comments about the choiuce of color, "redline" has always been the moniker for Mushkin's premium product as it pushes performance to the edge ... aka "to the redline". To have a product called redline ... in any other color would just be silly.
