27" 1080p monitor 82dpi good enough for you?

I'm planning to buy a new monitor soon, I have decided to stay at 1080p and will use DSR in some games if needed.

I'm looking at the Acer 27" Gaming Monitor Predator Z271bmiphz

It's 27" and has 82DPI.

To 27" 1080p monitor owners, if you sit at ~60cm from the screen, is the image quality still good enough for you?

i had one of the first 120hz 24" acer monitors and after 3 years i got offered a benq xl2720T and had little bit troubles first but after 2 weeks all is good and using this with:

I see it's not for Acer..

Yeah I plan to use DSR, I have already been testing with that on my 21.5" monitor, it works well sofar, in games at least.

With your specs, I would save for a 2560x1440 IPS monitor with 'moar hertz'.

I use a 27" 1080p Acer monitor at work (V276HL).

It's not the most beautiful thing you've ever seen, but it's fine. I can stick up two documents next to each other with full pages visible and readable font. Images look okay.

If you're a graphic designer, maybe not for you, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you sit back a bit.

for 1440p I only have this Dell 23.8" G-Sync as option, I can't spend more...
But 23.8" isn't much larger than 21.5" I now have...

I'd rather have a slightly bigger monitor with higher density + more hz than a much larger one with less. Save more from a proper upgrade is my take. 1080 21" to 1080 27" with more hertz I simply don't think is "moving on up" enough.

I can only afford 27" 1440p 60Hz monitors, but I'm afraid of fps drops when gaming at ultra so thats why I decided to go with G-Sync and possible 1440p DSR gaming.

Probably a worse place to be than Vinewood.

@OP we already had a bit of discussion in PM, you know my stance on this and on Gsync in particular. Good luck on this tough decision, but wisdom says this: for something you're going to be looking at for a lot of hours, its worth investing and perhaps even waiting a bit to get what you really want.

I really doubt you'll be happy with 27in 1080p. Sure its a step up from 21,5 inch, but 27in1080p has a really low resale value and that's for a reason. It's something that was never really the preferred option for most. PPI really does matter, and also, not having to DSR gives you some performance in FPS, which will reduce the need to even use Gsync at all. And TBH, I don't have Gsync and my FPS fluctuate wildly from 120-40 fps (still on my measly 780ti...) and in most cases, with a high refresh panel, you don't even notice that while focusing on the game. High refresh panels also suffer far less from tearing than regular ones, it's really a world apart.

If you really can't make up your mind, order a 27 inch 1080p and see for yourself. Well worth the 15 euro in shipping.

if i would not have been offered this benq 27" me too would have waited or ? its really a hard decision like others stated.
like a power supply that monitor has to last for a long time for me.
do i understand correct that you come from 21,5" screen? that 27 could be overwhelming.

I've had a 27" 1080p monitor for the last 5 years now and it's fine. Whether you like it or not depends on your eyesight (mine leaves something to be desired) and your personal preference.

I do find that the pixel structure is a little too visible though, especially on high contrast images and edges, even with my eyesight.

Personally, I'd like to have a 4K display with a 2x desktop scale factor. This would have the effect of showing screen elements the same size as a 1080p monitor, but with everything looking much more smoothed out. If BenQ made a 4K version of my current XL2720Z then this is what I'd do now. As it is, this monitor has some killer features that I'm not willing to let go of yet just for the sake of higher resolution.

Yes this is correct, I have a IPS 21.5" as main and a 1080p 21.5" TV for monitoring as second monitor currently.

I run an old Samsung 32" TV and sit about 30" away or so. Works fine for me as a primary monitor especially for gaming. I'm not as picky anymore...and having a decent panel helps even with lower DPI.

I would stick with 25" being the largest size for a 1920x1080 monitor. Beyond that go for higher resolution.

That being said, a quality 25" can provide excellent image quality at 1080p, but you'll need to shop around.
