Hi everybody.
Can owners of a 2700X tell me what temps they got in idle, gaming or during cinebench r20?
I've noticed something weird with mine. the temp during sinebench shoots up to 85 degrees Celsius (checked on few different temp monitor apps). I'm sure this isn't correct especially when the clocks are down to 37xx Mhz. The frequency drops so it must be corelated with the temperature.
Can you share some info what your temps are and if mine is actually correct? I've recently been fiddling with my CPU and re-paste it. Maybe I've put not enough paste on the surface between cpu and the heatsink? Do you think that could cause this?
Thanks

I have my 2600X cooled by a Cryorig R1 Ultimate, and I've seen it spike to over 70C (and clocks drop to 3.9GHz) under full load. I'd say your chip's behavior is normal with the Wraith Prism cooler you have.

Edit: Here's what HWMonitor shows when I run Cinebench R20. Temps peaked at 70C with my cooler and my clocks dropped to 3.8GHz.

I have a Noctua NH-U12S SE and I see similar temperature and clocks as @sam_86314 but on a 2700x. As far as I remember my temperature dropped from 76 C with the stock cooler (100 % fan). Check you fan setting in BIOS, it might not run 100 % until 85 C or there about. As @PaddieMayne stated we need to have more information.

I just ran cinebench 15 extrme on my 2700x at stock clocks on stocck cooler with a custom fan profile and it maxed out at 67c and the CPU clocks went from just over 4GHz down to just over 3.9GHz all core clock speed. PC is dirty lots of dust needs a clean out so temps could be better. Ambient temp is 20c.

So I guess my concern is futile. Although I will re-paste, cause I think the entire surface of the IHS is not covered with the paste. Just to make sure.

Thanks :)

Maybe I should tweak my fan a bit. I didn't do anything with it.
My computer is clean inside. You can eat from it if you wanted to although I don't recommend doing it :)

I'm running -100mV offset which brought the temps down from spiking up to 75 in Cinebench to just about 70. Still testing stability and just haven't had the time this week yet but so far so good. Under average use for gaming, unless Ashes is involved I rarely see above 55C load. Ashes just got a 2.8 update so I'll be testing that out hopefully later today. Cheers!

Your themp is nice as well. For me, even when gaming it hits 72. Highest one was around 76. That's no way this is accurate. I'm definitely missing something. On top of that I'm running 1050Ti since I got it and wanted to take it for a spin. When fiddling with the GPU I noticed the CPU temps and it just bugs me. I'm gonna re-paste when I get the Kryonaut I ordered. I've ran out the thermal grease already.

thats after 4 runs, i do have a 240mm aio with pushpull which helps, which cooler are you using. edit i see your using the stock cooler, may be time for something else.

True that. Maybe I will take a look at a water loop. But I need to wait for NAVI. I want the new card as well. When I get it maybe I will think of getting the card and the CPU in a custom loop and call it a day :) Although I will switch to 3000 series zen when it's out :) So I guess I will wait a bit longer but this is frustrating.

i dont think your temps are that bad but may hinder if you overclock. edit i think my score in cb20 comes from my ram running @3600 it makes hell of a difference.

Mine runs pretty hot as well on AIO water, i assumed they just boost up to a certain temp and therefore run hot, to run faster,

Part of my cool temps is ambient (room) temps are around 62-65F as well. Though credit to my Noctua U14S with two fans, not sure how much the second fan actually helps...it made maybe 1-2C difference on my OC'd 4790K. But it's there, and I'm using it.

My case has good airflow as well, even with the fan controller on low and I have a CPU fan curve on my X370 that kicks up to 70% at 50C and 100% at 65C iirc correctly.

I've read a lotta folks hitting 70-80C pretty regularly with 2700X's, its always burst though. But when you see a CPU push 1.45, 1.5+ V on turbo, its going to be awfully challenging to keep that cool without something more effective than your standard AIO and air coolers. Its a shame these CPU's don't run cooler and OC further, but for what they are and the price I got this one used for, I truly cannot complain. I'm quite happy with it. :)

Its a shame these CPU's don't run cooler and OC further, but for what they are and the price I got this one used for, I truly cannot complain. I'm quite happy with it. :)
How about I reduce the voltage? I noticed that 1.4 is the Vcore for 2700X. I wonder what would be the lowest vcore possible? Has anyone of you done this, what's the lowest you could achieve? Maybe during the winter time I crank it back up to warm the house :p
I wonder if 1.3 would do the trick.

I doubt that it is 1.4 V during load. Mine are 1.26-1.28 V depending of temperature and type of load. But yes lowing it will lower the temperature. Don't ask me which parameter to lower. Did you check your bios setting for fan speed? The M7 doesn't kick in full before mid 80 default. Hardware Monitor, check All Full (speed).

As a matter of fact I did check the system before posting here. Although I didn't have time to get the pictures and post them here. The Vcore was hitting 1.4volts, I'm sure of it. It is set for auto. I will lower it maybe today when I get some free time and try cinebench again. I need to tweak the fan curve speeds as well. Maybe that would help as well.

I will share my temps when I get home so you can all have a better picture.

Welcome!

Yes I would tweak your fan curve ad make your own profile as that makes a big difference for me with my 2700X and my latest clients 2600X system. I find when you do your own profile you can have it running quieter when at idle and cooler and more performance when under max load. The 2600X system I spent hrs testing it to get the max performance out of the CPU but also keeping it quiet when doing just normal tasks or at idle. With the fan set to auto or default the system ran the 2600X at full load maxed out at 3.5ghz or just above (in cinebench) and temps was hitting 70c or just above, once I did my own fan profile I was able to get the CPU all core clock speed up from 3.5GHz to just over 3.8GHz and this is using the stock cooler and I was able to bring the max temp down a little as well AND was able to have it run quieter when at idle. Whatever the default fan setting they have for these AMD CPU's is crap honestly and changing it is the way to go and also setting it off AUTO to whatever the other setting is for your CPU fan I think, I will have to double check that with my system I cant recall with the clients 2600X.

Ether way, change it! set your own, make sur eyou set it I found anyway to have the fan speed ramp up fast and early like around 60c and you should see a difference but I would also double check your thermal paste as I think the temps your getting a bit to high personally even with the default fan settings.

I will get a pic later at some point to give you an idea on what I have set my fan profile at since your running the exact same Mobo and CPU as myself.

Thanks for the info. I'm about to change the thermal grease when I get it from the store. I been fiddling with the CPU and cards lately and I've ran out which points to a conclusion that there isn't enough grease under the heatsink. meantime I will get the fan curve adjusted and we will see what happens. Maybe I will set the Vcore lower with an offset to see how this pans out.

Guys.
Here's a screenshot during Cincebench run. Temp stabilizes around 84.5. When idle it hovers around 45.

I recomend disabling clock boost in bios, you whant feal performans drop whit stock cooler and you will drop temp for at least 10C. I can elaborate if you what but best to try it and see

There are few things reviewers don't really tell you, due to how heavily controlled their testing is. Learned that when I got my Ryzen 2600X, which I use with stock cooler, first thing with it is that it tries to boost as far as it can and that means voltages and temperatures spiking. Which means temperature will jump like 7C up, then cool back down a bit, jump back up, and so on. Especially in synthetic workloads, my got to 80-90C, which was way off what I expected from reviews. Adding case fans and replacing thermal paste didn't do much for it. Though I stopped trying to fix it, since I mostly game and there worse case was 70-80C. But I probably would have to replace stock coolerto properly dealwith it. Also it doesn't help that Gigabyte board I have likes to chug extra voltage into it on auto. In any case it also feels like poor silicon quality too, since it refuses to do more than 3000Mhzon memory without errors. Anyway, that temperature seems like what happened with my as well and seems normal. Personally I am just playing with idea to use Ryzen 3000 to replace it with 65W part and sell 2600X.

the motherboards are as much the problem as anything else, they love defaulting to settings that can boost performance, but drastically up the voltages and heat

I don't think my Mobo is the problem here. It is a very well made piece of equipment. I will re-paste and I'm thinking of another 2 fans in the case blowing the air out of the chassis. That should help a bit.
I will have to tweak the fan curve as well since someone recommended it and I will give it a shot and see. Just need to wait for the thermal grease to arrive.

The mobo can cause problems but I haven't had any problems with mine. Yesterday the temp during gaming went up to 86 degrease. That's just wrong in my book and it has to stop.
I didn't have time to fiddle with the vcore. What I've noticed is my 1050TI (testing it) dropped in frequency under 1000Mhz and I could see the glitching. I don't think that's because the CPU drops in frequency? It's a 1050Ti and I been using my Vega 64 with no drops in performance ever.

During the weekend, I will sit with this stuff and see what I can do to make it better.
