I just threw out my Eizo 600 x 800 CRT monitor that I bought 20+ years ago for $2,100.

So frustrated over the lack of technology improvement. The Acer Predator XB271HU and Asus ROG Swift PG279 had 165 Hz and ULMB, low lag, low response times and to date have provided my best In Game experiences. Saw some 4k and higher refresh rate screen I like but the lack of motion blur reduction technology has kept me from biting on anything

So, basically its still Eizo quality as always.

I get why they still put in speakers, but not entirely sure its still needed. Probably if you need some beep sound. Cant do much more. :D

Wish they made new Foris or something like that. Their ability to make factory stuff near perfect is one of things I like about them. Another is that unless their quality went down, their monitors last lifetime (or at least their moral lifetime).

Thanks for very high quality review.

that link gives a 404.
i don't get the market for this, maybe in 2007 it would've made more sense when it's only competitors were UltraSharp and Cinema Display. no wonder we don't hear anymore from Eizo's gaming division (do they still have one?)

Fixed the link, sorry about that. Apparently they posted it on a different domain after I already put it in my review :)

Their gaming lineup is called Foris. My last Foris review dates back to 2017 though: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/eizo-foris-fs2735/

I think they killed Foris lineup, probably wasnt profitable for them. Will hope they make some higher refresh rate regular LCD and that would be enough for me.

@Inle: You should consider adding PWM to your list of negatives or at least mention it in your conclusion as something to consider even if it's a medium frequency. Since some devices like the current Macbooks go over 100 kHz PWM frequency, I wouldn't classify this monitor as high frequency.

As someone who is very sensitive to flicker and PWM, I typically avoid buying pretty much any screen that comes with it. Maybe my eyes are broken or need a firmware update to be compatible with the technology, but I usually experience a huge amount of eye strain and fatigue from screens with PWM even in the low to medium kHz range although I don't notice it on a conscious level as flicker.
He's going by streetspeak, not VESA specs, hence the quotes.
Marketingspeak would be 1440p, streetspeak is 2.5k from my experience

And someone as old as me always wonders why people still use those clunky 2048x1536 CRTs when they start talking about 2k monitors.

Never heard that one.
Might be a regional thing since my native language isn't English and folks in my country tend to speak some weird tech gibberish at times that must sound absolutely hilarious to native speakers.

I appreciate what you're saying, and I'd normally add PWM to the list of negatives, but in this case, it's really a non-issue. When you enter the "PWM zone" of this monitor's backlight, the brightness falls below 35 nits, which is too dim for any kind of usage. In other words, in practice you'll always stay in the "DC zone" and there will be no flicker in sight.

Thank you very much for this clarification!

This is the kind of information that helps people like me who got burned with PWM screens in the past actually quite a lot. Although I have to admit that I'll probably pass on this EIZO anyway. The pricing is a bit too crazy for my taste since it's basically just a really fancy office display. Looks like my next monitor is going to be a Dell from the UP series.

regarding
The only thing I'd recommend is to deactivate Auto EcoView, an ambient light sensor that adjusts the screen brightness according to your surroundings, but behaves too aggressively—it constantly tried to make the picture darker than I'd prefer for comfortable usage.

I have the ev3285 for myself and found out after some trials how to set the eco mode "properly".

deactivate "Auto EcoView"
deactivate "EcoView Optimizer" (and never use it)

have a reference bright day/environment, where you expect 100% brightness
for me this is a sunny day, light shining into my office room.

set brightness manually to 100%
activate "Auto EcoView"

this results on the ev3285 that the brightness stays at 100% (~350cd) in bright environment and goes down as much as 70% (~100cd) for a fully dark environment. perfect for me.

it'd be interesting, if the newer ev2795 shows similar behavior.

Not sure what happend to EIZO, but this things has 10 times the IPS Glow compared to the EV2785 from 4 years ago if i compare the same TPU reviews.

Even their current CS line has IPS glow now, while their older CX line didn't have any (owning a CX240 myself).

Looks like everyone likes to cheap out nowadays while keeping the prices up, very sad to see.

I'm looking to replace my CX240 and go to 16:9 @ 27 Inch 1440p, but there is a NOTHING out there with the uniformity of my CX240 unless i get a $2000+ monitor.
