Hey all.

I did bios update on my card with atiflash. Everything runs perfectly while updating and it's said to complete update you have to restart system. So I did that. But after restart my screen goes black and keep saying signal lost. So I can't do anything. Does anyone have an idea to fix this?

I was save my old bios before the update but I cannot access my pc screen so. I can't re-install my old bios.

My card is Sapphire R9 290 Trix.

Thanks.

Is there a bios switch on your card?

Sapphire released several revisions of the trix card, take a picture of your white stickers on the card and post them here.

Thank goodness you backed up the original bios, now the other thing, what are your complete system specs? If you are on an intel system you should be able to power up using the igp unless you are on a X** series chipset.

My final question.

What was the reason you flashed the bios in the first place?

If it is overclocking, Sapphire and MSI make overclocking tools that can also adjust voltages safely.

Hope you have either a bios switch on the card, CPU integrated IGP, or multiple graphics card slots on your motherboard..

Otherwise, it's blind-flash and pray lol.

Without an igp he would be better off buying an igp replacement board that he can slave in for non boot issues

Ok black screens meant typically something was overheating, replacing thermalcompound on the gpu and thermalpads on ram and vrms fixed the issue, sometimes replacing the psu did too, since you borked the gpu you will need to read below

You are on a piledriver system, you will need to buy a cheap new working graphics card to be able to have a monitor display. Once you have done that let us know or take the gpu to a friends home with a good system.

Hey again.

I have very old gpu on my other pc. And it's working. I still didn't tryed on my pc but it should be work. I mean I will get the screen with that card I hope.

But it's 4 am here so I can't test it right now.

Let's say this card will work. I have to connect working card on my first slot right? And the 290 one the second slot on my motherboard?

And after that I just open windows and run atiflash to default bios?

But my old card is amd too. Atiflash working on cmd code. So I really don't wanna touch my old card bios for mistake. I have to know which code I write on the cmd screen to run second gpu.

Sorry for the language I'm using my phone right now it's really hard to write.

Yes that should be, put the card back in and flip it then turn the system back on, it should boot.

I would draw a diagram of that switch and its position of what position has the working bios and the other that doesn't so you dont accidentally flash the wrong position.

Bear in mind that the switch has UEFI and CSM bios. Read your manual to find out what switch position is what when it pertains to the bios

Edit: There is nothing write about bios swich. Actually there is nothing on the manual.

The BIOS switch should look like this:

Yeah i will not do that. Here is the card box info if this does means anything. And my GPU-Z info.

Okey guys now i thinking to save my default bios to restore my backup. I did usb bootable atiflash disk. Didn't test it yet but it will be work i hope. Anyway my questions is.

If i swich my GPU bios i can't see anything. So i can't install backup with my current card.
I can connect another card on my system but i really don't wanna install my backup bios to wrong card. I have to install this bios only 1 card. Is that possible to select a card? If yes how i can do that?

Thanks.

Ok the position your switch is in currently needs to be labled as UEFI for your reference. So that tells me you flashed the legacy/csm bios.

To flash the bios you need to do it via command prompt, so basically boot the system to dos prompt with the switch enabled to uefi, then once you see the command prompt switch the card to the legacy bios position, follow directions from that link i provided earlier to restore the correct bios.

To restore the BIOS that you flashed and no longer works correctly, you need to do what you did before when you flashed it. Keep the switch in the position it is now, so you can see the screen, up to the point just before you use atiflash. Then before using atiflash move the switch to the position with the non-working BIOS. Then flash your backup BIOS. Make sure before doing so that the switch is in the postion it was when you flashed the non-working BIOS. DO NOT FLASH THE BIOS THAT IS CURRENTLY WORKING. That's your fail-safe.

Ok whatever position your switch is in currently that allowed you to boot up correctly is the position with the uefi bios on it.

The other position that is not working is supposed to have the csm/legacy bios but its messed up currently. Read what MrGenius and I said when doing a bios flash. Make sure you dont flash what is working currently.

There is a reason why i told you have a diagram of the switch positions on the card drawn and labled correctly.

Come on now, you flashed the card before and you weren't scared then.

Yes. It will work. I've done it many times. Use the working BIOS to get you to the point just before entering the commands for atiflash. Before entering any atiflash commands change the switch to the position of the non-working BIOS. Then enter the commands to use atiflash. When finished restart your system to complete the flashing process.

Quick questions. Should I run usb on Uefi mode or just normal mode?
