In the past few months, we have heard rumors of NVIDIA launching an upgraded version of the GA102 silicon called GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The upgraded version is supposed to max out the chip and bring additional performance to the table. According to anonymous sources of VideoCardz, MSI, one of NVIDIA's add-in board (AIB) partners, is preparing to update its SUPRIM X lineup of graphics cards with the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X GPU, scheduled for January 27th launch date. This suggests that the official NDA lifts for these RTX 3090 Ti GPUs on January 27th, meaning that we could see AIBs teasing their models very soon.

As a general reminder, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card should use a GA102-350 silicon SKU with 84 SMs, 10752 CUDA cores, 336 TMUs, 24 GB of GDDR6X memory running on a 384-bit bus at 21 Gbps speed with 1008 GB/s bandwidth, and a TBP of a whopping 450 Watts. If these specifications remain valid, the GPU could become the top contender in the market, however, with a massive drawback of pulling nearly half a KiloWatt of power.

Folks will buy them. Just 'cos.

Then again, there are quite a lot of 3090's available in the UK from different retailers. I wonder why these £2000+ cards aren't selling as well as the other (still overpriced) cards? <sarcasm> I mean, that's a big bloody hint - if there are RTX cards on the shelf, it's because folks dont want them. They don't want something that costs even more and uses more power to make more heat and noise.

I wonder if the rumors that the NVLink port is being removed and LHR being implemented are true. Still... from my perspective, as a 3090 owner, it is a rather pointless SKU, with unacceptable tradeoffs... instead of improving on the original, it simply doubles down on its weaknesses, (and if rumors are true) removing a few of the ultra-niche things that somewhat could be argued to justify its exquisite cost in exchange for what I am sure will be the most paltry improvement conceivable. I will be very impressed if the 3090 Ti is 5% faster than the 3090 when both have the same power allowance.

Oh, on that subject: this is probably where pretty much 98% of the performance improvement on the Ti will come from, the obnoxious, strictly enforced power limits.

Yawn. I wonder if Nvidia is losing mindshare and reputation due to this?

You seem very salty that people own 3090's. Have you drank enough water today? Perhaps you need a nap.
People should be rightfully salty....how many more 3060s or 3070s could be produced from the same wafer making 3090ti's? And as for asking if they're "salty", I can just as easily ask you why you've become the self-appointed defender of Nvidia, their manufacturing choice designed to appease 0.001% of consumers, and the people who'll reward that behavior by purchasing these cards? Not sure why you had to personally go after someone when nobody was personally going after you...

IDK about anyone else but these "leaks" are depressing, everyone knows there wont be enough stock to go around at MSRP at launch.. So why even bother with leaks reporting? I'll tell ya, false hype, to make believe there is something worth looking forward to, knowing scalpers will screw it up for everyone else.

It's meaningless for the typical gamer or computing nerd. Close to being provocative.

Im getting so tired of GPU releases that no one but scalpers and miners can get. Just stop already nVidia. Same for you AMD. Dont bother releasing new cards until the chip shortage straightens out. Also, mining needs to die.

Nvidia could resolve it by creating a queue system. They prefer to let Best Buy and other companies just do the wild west system instead. Oh, and they love flooding the 20 or so Microcenters with tons of them for some reason.

No doubt I can understand and don't blame people one bit for being salty with the current market conditions. However, its by no means a legitimate excuse to lump everyone together and be a vindictive ass towards those who do have the ability to get one and accuse them of showing off or being someone rich that has nothing better to do than waste money. Some of us do actually use the full potential of these cards for other than gaming and could care less about ultra-high quality graphics settings with ridiculously high FPS.
Its also stupid to hold to the idea that since we buy these cards, we're somehow to blame for the price and that we should just hop into their boat and join the crowd that can't afford or refuses to buy the cards at the current prices.

Just want to point out the irony when I mention power consumption and some people say who cares.
The usual suspect often brags about how high their wattage usage is and posts multiple pictures.
Honestly power consumption is one of my biggest factors when it comes to my PCs. As much as possible I undervolt anything to help keep my bill down. It's why in the future if things go like this I might not buy an 80 series card anymore just because they keep pushing up the power consumption

People will buy these 3090ti and not give a shit how much power they use, if i had the cash i would do the same, as what does it really matter.

Maybe if i strangle my CPU so it doesn't use so much my drop in the ocean power saving might change the world in some small way, and save myself 55p a week in power savings

MC has a 30day cooldown. They're real customers and not bots. Nvidia queue is way too much logistics for them, they pass it on to BB. Which is the only place to buy FE and FE are the only cards being produced as full hash rate.

Despite the shortages, these muppets don't seem to have any problems rolling out new line after new line of cards, and from the way I see it, a 3090Ti doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless you're a company that is trying to play the market for greater profit. With the RTX 3090 availability being lower than whale shit, NVidia figures they should develop a 3090 with slightly better(and I use that term loosely) specs for a higher price with the expectation that they will sell like hotcakes(and I'm sure they will).
I can see their CEO sitting in a back room as Dick Dastardly rubbing his hands together with Muttley laughing his signature laugh.

Who cares, let the farmers nab them all. Why would a normal gamer want one of these? A normal 3090 is just as good, just not so much Epeen as a ti

1000 of these cards will be made. 900 will go to miners and the rest to scalpers.
