A group of engineers has developed a 2GHz CPU which uses 5-13W of power, is multi core capable and has most of the controllers included. It is 64 bit, has the DDR2 memory controller, the southbridge and 2MB cache onboard. The first prototypes are up and running, and the first samples will see the light of day in the third quarter of 2006. A 4 core version is planned for 2007 and a 8 core version for 2008.
