2x GTX 1070s - Multi Displays not working

Hey guys

I have an issue using multiple displays with my new 1070s.

Basically I have for a long time now had 3 monitors - 1 big main one and 2 smaller ones (one on each side). Prior to now I used 2x970s and prior to that 2x670s, and have never really had any issue with this.

However, after replacing my cards with 2x 1070s, and reinstalling the latest drivers, in my nvidia control panel, I can't get any option to work other than "Maximise 3D performance" - which will turn off all except the 1 main monitor. Ideally I want "Activate all displays", however I also tried the "disable SLI" setting - and both of those essentially result in blank screens. As soon as the setting is applied, the screens will go black and their on light will just flicker slowly (as though they are in sleep mode?).

In fact it's so bad, the only way to get back to a working state is to restart windows with a last good known config - as the settings do not revert back properly.

The only difference between now and before is that my new cards don't have enough DVI ports, so I had to use some DVI to DP adapters for my peripheral monitors.

So I now have my main monitor plugged into the top/main card with DVI, and the peripheral monitors plugged into the bottom card with DP (using DVI-DP adapters).

I have the latest drivers, Windows 7x64bit.

I haven't been able to find anything online describing quite this problem unfortunately, so hopefully someone has an idea of what's going on.

Thanks!

Have you tried plugging all your monitors into your main card? The GTX1070 should have more than enough connectors for that.

SLI only works with multimonitor configs if all are plugged into the main monitor. You should be able to duplicate from monitor 1 to 2, then change to extend. Repeat for monitor 3.

Nvidia was parsnikety on what ports of a card are active, i think you should contact the card manufacturer and nvidia on this.

I'm pretty sure it was all ports active, just more picky on which are used for surround.

I just plugged all monitors in one card and it all worked - didn't even have to change any settings (still on maximise 3d performance). I feel silly for not trying that earlier now :)

Fixed that for you. :)

It was my observation when I used to run CFX that only the primary GPU could output a monitor signal when in CFX but, would work fine when CFX was disabled.

Yea when in SLI you need all of your connections in top card.
