Why not just wait for retailers to have it instead of doing something stupid? Get an actual warranty and quit rushing things.

EVGA will warranty an ebay scalper buy provided it's sealed (a used or opened one gets a transferable 2 year from manufacture date instead). But really, hop on the EVGA queue. I can't say this enough. MSRP is already as much as anyone should pay.

And don't count on the EVGA policy everywhere. Most want a "legit retailer" for warranty. It complicates things.

I’ve been waiting since launch trying to use stock drops and things like that and I’m not gonna wait for 4000 series’s

Bit of a hard stretch on the rule since the "deal" was made in PM, but okay. Good luck to you OP and hope it works with whichever build you went with.

Also, I'm neither the one making the deal, nor was I willing to discuss it outside PMs. I was rather explicit on that point in an attempt to comply with the rules FWIW. meh. I know you guys mean well and the only rule that isn't abused is a strictly interpreted one, but I really don't even see the violation here. Things like this make me hesitant to try to help.

Don't worry. I'm done with this. No need for a spectacle.

In fairness, OP thread is in wrong sub-forum. The mod decision was correct. Also, R-T-B wasn't breaking the rule for that sub-forum but this sub-forum isn't for sales etc. That's the actual issue.

I ended up ordering the cheapest prebuilt with a 3080 - Alienware r10 with a 5800.

A used 3080 was about $200 cad more expensive than the system and a used dell 3080 was about $200 cheaper than the whole system.

Just remember - ebay = no warranty from the manufacturer. Unless you have laws to deal with that in your country.

That's why I disagree with 'scalping' - the seller often can't offer a warranty. You risk a lot of cash, over the MSRP, to get a potential book end.

Plenty of nice pre-builts on the Egg if you reside in the U.S, like there was one with a 10400F, 3060 and a 1440p 144 Hz monitor for like $1300. From ABS, their in-house brand.

Issue is OP has been on a thread making run on upgrading and just needs the gpu at this point. Sure could sell all the other stuff to make up for it but for some that's too much work.

^ This... get a prebuilt rig and make it mine when you're not gaming... if the pricing / predictions hold it's basically a free computer after a few months.

Just call dell, and look for something like an R10 and then give a story like "I can barely feed my baby but need a super gaming PC so I can at least enjoy something to get away from my screaming monster" and they will try to find you the best price. Just keep asking "is that the best offer?" And then they will get to a point where they won't budge then say "oh, I don't know. At that price I may have to withgo feeding my child for a day or two.... Maybe I'll cancel." Then they usually find something better deal or they may just say that's that.

I got a system that was $2999.99 CAD for $2900 after taxes (so it was about $2700) I brought it down.

Ryzen 5800
16gb dual channel 3200 ram
512gb nvme + 1tb HDD (I got a adata xpg 8200 pro 1tb nvme I'll put in)
RTX 3080
Water cooling
Some dell wifi and Bluetooth 5.0 card
1000w PSU

I couldn't really build it for same price. I mean I could if I could find non existent cheapest model of 3080 and no wifi and it would be about $150 cad cheaper. Oh, and cheapest mobo too. But yeah, was a better deal.

everything i buy comes from ebay.. or mostly everything.. i have recently bought 8 x 3060ti/3070 cards on ebay and 2 3080 cards.. spent maybe 10K.. not the slightest problem.

just check the sellers feedback.. dont buy from someone who has bad or no feedback and forget all your worries.. ebay is very reliable..

to be hoenst if you have no feed back people may not wish to sell to you..

trog

ps.. i also just sold 8 x 1070 cards on ebay.. again not the sllghtest problem..

My best advice is to look at their feedback and see if they recently sold a gpu.

If they have and the experience rating was positive, they probably are not a scammer.

ps.. he has been brainwashed into thinking all ebay sellers selling a gpu are scammers.. this is bullsh-t from pissed off people who dont want the pay the going rate for a gpu..

I buy and.sold on eBay. Its a lot safer to buy on eBay these days as eBay has its protection guarantee. Issue I can see is if you purchase a GPU from eBay, you won't have warranty beyond the whole eBay protection plan. So if in 3 months the GPU stops working, you may be hooped unless the seller is honest and good. You never know, you may end up with a good seller. I did multiple of times whom were happy to help me with RMA on an PS Vita.

Anyway, as said, make sure the seller has good feedback.

Otherwise though, prices are so absymal on eBay, you may be better off like I said with a pre built. I know I'm better off. Dell RTX 3080 sells for $2,650 CAD here I'm Canada on both eBay and local listings. I got that and a whole system for $2,900.

i bought a pre-build off ebay with a 3080 onboard.. this was a couple of months back and while i was waiting for it to be delivered the selling price went up from £1750 to £2350..

i think the pre-build people were just a little late cottoning on to how 3080 prices had shifted.. he he

but ebay is very reliable.. if it wasnt i would not use it..

if anybody wants a 3xxx series card ebay is the place to get it.. having said that the price is high but it is what enough people are prepared to pay to soak up what is available.. simple supply and demand at work..

There are scammers that inflate their own feedback with bots, but you can pick them out by viewing recent sales, generally.

I have similar ebay feedback trog (though I think I have one negative from one guy who was convinced I was trying to scam him despite all evidence, based merely on the fact I would not accept "cash in the mail," can't please everyone I guess) and I still understand the issue.

Ok so only downside if that eBay I won’t have warranty
