Hello.

I have windows xp mediacenter 32 bit instaled right now.
Will it make much difference if i update to a 64 bit version of windows xp?

Will it run better or faster? Or not?

Thanks

64 is buggy as hell, and I absolutely hated it.
Stick with 32 imho.

stick with 32bit, there is barely any driver support for x64 and half of the apps dont work either, also (not sure) m$ doesnt really suport x64 and has be pulled off the shevles.

No sense in getting XP64 at all. For all the above reasons, avoid it. Wait for Vista as it should run 64-bit properly.

Main problem is drivers and utter lack of application support. Ther performance right now is neglegible.:ohwell:

I'm running the free trial of 64 bit XP Pro and the free Avast anti-virus on my Biostar T-Force 6100. It (the OS) is doing it's job well. NVidia was nice enough to have reg., non-beta drivers for the 6100/410 chipset and gpu. I am using all onboard components, lan/sound/video, and 1 ide hdd.
It's job is running a small out of house Counter Strike Source server on Steam. I am happy with it. It has been bug free for me. It is so much better then my last Biostar 32 bit running XP Home. XP Home crashed out Steam every few days. The 64 bit XP has not crashed Steam even once.
I like it a lot, but prob. will not buy it because Vista is supposed to be available pretty soon.
If your pc is in need of a format, I would say dl' the 64 bit XP Pro trial and give it a try.

I have 64bit windows... not worth it....

And this is in the wrong forum, I believe. Isn't this the Linux forum?

The apps work on x64 but you have to hack them in order to make them work. Like most of them check the user32.dll too see if your admin and they have a value hardcoded in to the program that compares it against the current user I believe and thats why a good amount of programs dont work like abits Uguru utilities.
