The magazine surveyed nearly 5000 readers, asking them about their experience dealing with broken consoles.

I'd take this with a grain of salt, u dont hear from people unless somethings wrong so majority of the people who respond to a request for information usually have something to complain about.

I believe it. Everyone I know with a 360 has had a problem with it. 54% sounds reasonable to me. Fail.

I have had a 360 die, but the failure rate is always over 20% for 360's in most surveys, but I also don't think its 50%, if it was I would be shocked

I'm on my 3rd now which barely works, it barely, barely reads discs(whoever had it before me must of played the hell out of it) sometimes it gives me RROD lights sometimes it gives me 2 lights, and I know its clean, I even changed the thermal paste and everything but im gonna use this baby til its dead

Use to have a PS3 and it reformatted itself, and my 360's killed themselves.

Now i have a Wii, and i don't play it that much but at least its pretty reliable. But i don't know what happened to consoles, i use to never have to worry about these types of problems until this gen. Its really sad.

I only have a Wii. It locked up twice in Rayman: Raving Rabbids. That's the only problem I've had with it so far.

My 360 red ringed around June last year when I entered in my free 500MSP I got with GTAIV and I was going to buy the CoD4 map pack. So I took it to the store I bought it from and got it replaced (it was the original model) instead of crying about it on the internet like a bitch.

I hope my current one doesn't break (one with HDMI and either a cooler CPU or GPU but not both) then OH NO! What ever would I do on my free extended 3 year warranty :(

Oh yeah, return it.

It's not like there's other stuff to do like watch TV, use my PC, go see a movie, go out on my mountain bike, go to work, go to school, clean the house, take a shower, get a haircut, mod my PC case, tune my mountain bike, study for a driver's licence, learn how to drive, go on a wacky adventure, go to England for the weekend, go out drinking, go to a bar, go to a friend's house, play his 360, watch his TV, use his PC, see a movie with him. Oh WAIT, I forgot, 54% of 360 owners don't have real friends so can only spend time whining about it on the internet because they have nothing to do.

Why are people still complaining about this crap? It's getting old. If you don't want problems don't buy the dam 360. Oh, and 5,000 people is an EXTREMELY small number, this does NOT mean 54% of consoles will fail, this means 54% of that 5,000 people have had problems, they could pick another 5,000 people who have had no problems.

So according to that survey, 54% is the fail rate which is 16,200,000. So they asked 5,000 people and 2,700 broke so they're saying that 16 million consoles broke because 54% of a small number broke? lol please...

yes we all know that, this is a small survey and probably a biased one but still theres a problem, not everyone who buys the 360 knows that some have problems, same goes for everything else, but with the 360 there is undeniably more people with problems

you seem angry in that post and I lost you for alot of what you said

also if your 360 rrod'd last year and they replaced it with a used one or refurb at the store(they do it in the U.S where I live) then you have no warranty, but I think you have a warranty with the store right.

Not saying the 360 doesnt have problems, but Ive never had a problem with mine. My roommate got RRoD tho, and microsoft replaced it post haste, no issues and it chugs along great. I'd still take these surveys with a grain of salt. If there was no hype involved nobody would get paid to produce these surveys... Not to mention we're going on how many years since the xbox launched? 4 or 5? Its getting old. The failure rate for everything reaches 100% given enough time.

It is a big deal. When you pay that much money for a product, it should work as promised. It's not about having nothing to do, it's about getting what you paid for.

I had a premium that RROD on me. It was still so new, that I was able to just take it back to Best Buy, so it wasn't a huge deal, and I ended up paying a little extra to just go ahead and grab an elite. But little did I know, I lost all of the content I paid for on XBox Live.

My little brother has had 4 consoles RROD on him so far, and he's had to deal with mailing it in.

So they asked 5,000 people and 2,700 broke so they're saying that 16 million consoles broke because 54% of a small number broke? lol please...

um who was complaining haha

i was just posting news

It is a big deal. When you pay that much money for a product, it should work as promised. It's not about having nothing to do, it's about getting what you paid for.

I had a premium that RROD on me. It was still so new, that I was able to just take it back to Best Buy, so it wasn't a huge deal, and I ended up paying a little extra to just go ahead and grab an elite. But little did I know, I lost all of the content I paid for on XBox Live.

My little brother has had 4 consoles RROD on him so far, and he's had to deal with mailing it in.

I agree

sry to hear about your little bro getting it that bad, are you serious, 4 RROD's, thats hard for even me to beleive

I mean I have only had 2, and thats mainly because microsoft right after the first one died, sent me a refurb that was bad and died after a few days, but now since I have gotten a refurb for the refurb they sent me that was bad, I have no warranty at all since 1 year has passed, the 3 year RROD warranty dosen't cover refurbs from what ms told me, they only have 1 year.

so 4 is hard to believe

and yes, fight club is good despite what some people say
