Well you find Shrimp's PM box for his address and ship it out to him for a pin repair and soldered delid with testing and call it a day!!

Well they wont warranty for bent pins, they may try to claim mishandling of the product.

definitely fix the pins if you can... they have a billion customers and a backlog -- it's not personal, if you show up with busted pins you're on your own. Your ticket will go automatically into the 'Resolved - customer at fault' pile.

What you should do, is complain to Newegg and tell them they sent back the wrong CPU to you and that they should fix their support stock room so issues like that doesn't happen.

Been there. They said the rma process is all verified and validated and that this couldn't happen.

Edit: I'd love to know what those 4 pins do.

Post a picture of it. Most bent pins can be fixed. Get a good mechanical pencil and micro pliers and a magnifying glass.

I have no doubt I can fix them. The bigger problem with all this is that the CPU didn't leave my house with bent pins and didn't work right with straight pins. Now I have to straighten them just to get AMD to replace it because Newegg sucks.

After fixing a 3700x and 2700X last week someone had scraped a screwdriver through like a chisel I would say fix it.

using a pin of just slightly smaller width than the pin pitch of the chip to run down the pin channel pushing any lay down pins up then lift /lever to pull rows straight, many many repeated times and a razor blade for final straightening.

the socket insertion after this is very tense but both my ones survived, they were actually auction bought returns tbh(was so happy after being so so gutted, but ended up bargains £200 for both)
thats easily fixable with just the razor blade , bend whole rows back into alignment not single pins , dont bend too much.

bend the 5 bent out as one to align with their edge mates then bend each up individually to align to its row mates

Yeah, just cooling off before I do it. I am still so pissed. Then I have to figure out if I should purchase another board and cheap ram to test or just contact AMD straight up for the rma. I don't think this cpu ever could have fit in the socket...let alone boot up and be semi functional.

It certainly wouldn't have gone in the socket like that ,it can happen though ,I bent one of the above the same way with my thumb while fixing the worse bit, i should have took a before and after,40 pins flat to the base!, go with lost Swede's suggestion and rma it to Amd ince it's straight but honestly I built twelve different ryzen systems so far and some memory kit's are to be avoided and some just work.

I mean it works fine with my 3900X so I am quite positive the 3700x imc was a dud.

how do I know if my ram is decoupled, running 1:1 with IF active? i don't understand any of this. I just left it all on auto and set A-XMP in mobo since my ram was QVL

You know what would be hilarious? That newegg did send you back the wrong processor and it turns out this one - other than the bent pins - has a better memory controller...

Seriously though, wouldn't it be odd if you tested the returned processor and it had no problems with your memory?

Ok, so I finally got off my ass and fixed the pins. Oh, and fuck Newegg one more time for good measure.

It's not perfect but it should slide into the socket just dandy. Unlike that shit Newegg sent me back. Fuck Newegg again.

Now time to order another Mobo and RAM for testing. I think I'll go B450 itx and try out Oloy ram. I'll try itx as it may become my server/Dev box if none of my friends want to buy it.
