I went from the x1950 pro 256mb to the hd 3850 512mb card and i can tell you it was well worth it even though i was very fond of my x1950.

I'll wait for a review before I make my decision and I have alot of time since it won't be available in New Zealand till the rest of the world gets the card but I'll probably be getting a PCI-E motherboard and GPU instead.

Thinking of going back to nVidia thoughas my X1950pro was only perfect in some games and stuttered in others, ironically older games.

According to a thread at G3D, most e-tailers in the US already have the cards, but got a notice from the manufacturers preventing them form selling them, as currently there's no official driver support from AMD.

Some ppl have been able to get their hands on the cards, particularly the Powercolor model; however, the card won't work with 8.1 cats...

One guy mentioned having successfully installed it using the Powercolor installation disc included with it (which happens to be an un-labeled CD-R according to him).

If he's to be believed, he got a score of over 9000 in 3DMark05 using a P4@4Ghz and Powercolor drivers, but he expects the score to increase when the official drivers are released.

We may only have to wait for AMD to release the 8.2 cats in Feb. for the e-tailers to start selling them... it's been a long and frustrating wait for me too, as even between my patients I keep checking from time to time to see if Newegg, ClubIT, ZipZoomFly, or any other e-tailer releases these cards... God, how I hate paper launches!!! :banghead:

Thanks for the heads up, that card was announced about a month ago, but the question remains, were in the US can we actually buy any Radeon 3850 AGP card....

im shure the driver is there but theyre prolly tweaking it so that it could MAYBE be vista compatible?
