I'm thinking of upgrading my 4170 bulldozer architecture to the 4350 new piledriver architecture. However, I can't find reviews on the 4350. If you look in my system specifications I currently have a 4170 in my main rig, and hence the title of the thread. Anyone have any first hand knowledge of this new 4350 processor?

If I'm going to upgrade to more cores I'll go to the 8350. I've heard these new visheras get 15% better performance.

I was just going to say that, the FX6300 or FX6350 is only $10 more than the FX4350.

I went from the 4130 to the 6300 and, yes, there is a positive difference in performance.

The cost difference was only $20 :)

my opinion and experience going from a 4100 to 8350.....Don't even contemplate anything between!!

theyre beastly cpus for a great price! save your money and get a 8350, pair it with an ssd and its quick as hell doing anything!

my virus scan used to takes ages on my four core now its over in minutes!

i have a list of things that improved but from my experience, don't even think about buying anything between!

I have to be honest the 8350 is very tempting. I've been studying it for months now.

theres a few guys on this forum that went from phenoms/fx four cores and all say the same thing...... why the hell did I wait to do it!!

if you want a performance boost now, get an ssd then get the chosen cpu.

talking from experience the best buys/upgrades I have ever made are SSD, 8350, PSU!

Yes, in single threaded games the extra 300MHz on the FX4350 gives it the slight advantage, but on multithreaded games(like Crysis3) the FX6350 pulls way ahead. Luckily these are FX processors, so the clock speed advantage is pretty much moot.

Pretty pointless to get an 8350 with the 8320 being just as good and being over $40 cheaper right now. Hell, screw it, I take back what I said about the FX6350, get the FX8320, its only $27.50 more than the FX4350, that is a no brainer.

Getting a 8320 and overclocking it a bit is a good way to save money. If you do not overclock though, go ahead and get the FX8350. I would guess it will be on sale in the next few days because of the new Radeon Memory kits. or you can find one of the CPU only and save $15 to $25 as well.

I only play three games as of right now. Shogun Total War 2, Starcraft 2, DOTA 2. Company of heroes and sim city and battlefield are on my list. More cores does interest me for the future titles I plan on getting.

The 8350 is a great chip and won't disappoint/well worth the small premium on the price imho.

Intend to replace the 6200 and the 8150 I'm running in a couple of other rigs with 8350's when I get a chance. The other chips are pretty good but just not as good as the 8350 ;)

I have to agree the 8350 is a great CPU and it keeps surprising me to. When programs finally make use of all 8 threads the 8350 really starts to shine. If you do any encoding the 8350 is very fast beats out all my other CPU's with ease (Phenom X4, X6, i7 940) Also with gaming, made a good increase from my 965, in some cases almost doubling the FPS in certain multi threaded games.

I skipped on bulldozer and im glad I did as my m8 went with the 8120 and to be honest its a dog, no better then my 965 was in gaming really, and it runs hot., just feels slow in games and in windows. The 8350 was the opposite, snappy fast windows experience and games got faster, and the encoding is just awesome! :rockout:

I went froman FX4100 to an FX8120 to the present FX8350. I've OC it to 4.45ghz stable (w/o messing with vcore) and it's an excellent CPU.....I use it for gaming with the 2x GTX670's, as well as ripping movies and MP3s for my personal use......great stuff. I'd not ripped with the FX8120, so I can't say how it would have performed, but based on reviews, the FX8350 would have spanked it silly.

Enjoy the upgrade, should be a noticeable difference!

Thanks man. Your avatar is awesome man.

I really hope this processor lasts me until 2014. I hope a rumored 8750 doesn't come out either.

Thanks man. Your avatar is awesome man.

I really hope this processor lasts me until 2014. I hope a rumored 8750 doesn't come out either.

It should be just fine into 14'. And I wouldn't sit worrying about the future, there's always upgrades around the corner, at some point you just have to bite that bullet and decide when th e time to stop waiting is.

My next upgrade will be the new AMD gaming series memory @ 2133. Following that the next gen GPU. Oh it never ends lol.
