Lovely sweet speeds. I won't even think of tempting 850-875 on the 4870. 850 does seem to be the max stable I can get on this thing.

Good find Jimmy. Let me also add that their maybe a need to increase voltage. Here is how you do it:
-Start up Cat
-review all you settings to make sure thats how you want to save them
-click on the profile tab and select Profile Manager
-select the items you want to include in your profile (3D is a must)
or
-choose "This profile includes: all cat control settings"
-Give your profile a name and save it
-open up explorer and go to: C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Local Settings\Application Data\ATI\ACE
-you should find the profile you saved
-open it up with notepad, once you do you should find the following:

<Feature name="CoreVoltageTarget_0">
<Property name="Want_0" value="1263" />
<Property name="Want_1" value="1263" />
<Property name="Want_2" value="1263" />
</Feature>

You want to adjust the the third line. For example from 1263 to 1273, etc. You are going to need to "experiment" with that to see if it offers you any gains. If the 4800 series is anything like the 2900 you should notice an improvement at higher OC's.

Side note: Don't mess with the memory voltage. Leave that at 0. Also, be mindful of this voltage increase, make sure you have proper cooling. Evaluate your temps using GPUz by paying close attention to the 3 temp readings. My suggestion is to keep the fan at 65% or higher. Increase the fan speed above 65% according to how much additional voltage you add. Also note that if you change the voltage it may boot up to that voltage change until you manually change it back to the original voltage setting. There is some risk involved doing this as there is no documentation yet on what method is best to OC these cards. So you do so at your own risk! If you don't feel comfortable, don't mess with the voltage settings!

Yea, I think as soon as you exceed the clock range of CCC it will no longer allow you to set anything in Overdrive which means we can't use fan speeds either. I wonder how we can work around this.

One thing I noticed after you set your clocks with the gpu tool, is that if you go back in to CCC and make a new profile, then go and edit it, the fan settings are on Automatic and 84%. Changing it to manual makes no difference though.

Interesting, have you tried running anything like that? Does the fan actually automatically kick up to 84% if it's set that way? That would require wearing a good pair of headphones to run like that though!

Going to give it a shot now with furmark.

*It does not kick up to 84% The highest it went was 28% and 90c. Reworking the fan in the bios seems to be the only way to have both oc and a faster fan at the moment.

Ok, there is one way to do it, though it will set your fan at 100% and be very loud. Perhaps, if you are looking to do a benchmark this would be your fix. Remove the blue wire out of the fan socket. Instant 100% fan! I guess I'm going to do it now, since I'm itching to do some bench's.

*Ok, forget that idea. 100% fan is too scary sounding for me. I had it at 100% for a minute and I couldn't stand it anymore...
