I feel bad bumping a thread from 2009 but I need help.

I'm having the SAME problem. I mean, entirely the same.
I sold my 4870x2 last month. Buyer, a month later, is only now getting back to me claiming that the card never worked and he's getting lines across his screen.

Any suggestions? I hate to be the one to have to refund the card, and RMA it (if Visiontek will even do it anymore even though its a "lifetime" warranty).

If it took him a month to get back to you then it suggests to me that the card was working fine on arrival, in that case I would not refund him, only suggest that he contact the manufacturer for a RMA.

After all he could have done anything with the card in that month..... you cannot be responsible for that.

if it took a month to fail its not your problem to deal with, as it worked when you sold it, and when he received it.


you can arrange RMA for him and get him to post it/use his return address, but unless you stated you'd cover it for failures you dont have to.

Sounds pretty iffy to me. The guy probably tried to set a manual fan speed that was too low and the VRMs probably overheated. They are the weak spots on these cards.

Did you mark down the serial number before you sent it? A lot of jack asses buy the same thing they have broken. Get your new working one and say its busted. Then send you back the older broken one and keep your working on AND get thier cash back. ALWAYS write down the serial number.

Yeah I think I have it down somewhere.

The whole thing is strange. If you look on the OcN thread the consensus is the same. Its just fishy. The guy has Sri Lanka on his profile, but I shipped it to a Cali address so Im thinking there was a middleman handeling the card to ship it out of US. And his emails are sent at abnormal times which backs this up. His broken English more so.

Its been too long. I dont think Im going to offer a refund but Ill try to help as best I can

i installed windows using 8500gt card it worked perfectly. i thought of problem with PSU so i asked tech support team to change the motherboard(Intel 41w) and well as PSU unit. i am pretty sure nothing wrong with PSU. and my system is intel core 2 quad gigabyte motherboard 4gb ram. 500gb hdd. il send u a picture of all setup.

and yes it is almost 3weeks now since i bought this item. us address is my uncles address. i ask you to ship there coz he planed to visit srilanka 17th December and i ask him to bring the card with him, that will cut of some shipping charges. technically i got the card 18th December and ever since i got it i never thought it was card issue coz i loved it the weight and design. so all thz days i've try'd to rectify it. dats y it too so long.

main reason i bought this card and build this machine for play call of duty MW 3 (lol)
