But he doesn't. Read the first post.
Well I did! All that was mentioned was and is the MSI 970. If that MB has a HS for the VRM then you are golden that is all I can say the FX and the MSI MB is amazing and I get 4.2GHz no issues!

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)

MSI 970 Gaming. And if you google that.......... you get an MSI 970 Gaming. This isn't your board.

EDIT: That said, it does have a total of 8 phases (didn't dig in past that as I should)... but it should be OK for at least stock operations.

Well it would be nice to have a pic of the OP's current MB that would help some what.
One bad thing that the MB manufactures failed to do back in the FX day was use adequate VRM chips and cooling for the VRM.
Mine is fine now that I took the I/O plate off. It was hindering air flow making the VRM HS get really hot under 100% load.

For sure the MB and CPU the OP currently has is fine and should work great. 4 pin will work no problem. your CPU will be fine.

Ive witnessed 970 boards run 8350s stock or OC'd

@ShrimpBrime @storm-chaser @Bones @Mr.Scott can attest to this.

Read the manual
Yeah, it all depends on the board really. My Asus 970 Pro Gaming/Aura had no problem pushing an 8150 under dice or 8300 with chilled water.

All the OP really needs is a PSU that isn't absolutely ancient and can actually power the system properly.

Agreed. The PSU would be my main concern here.
